“Best Breakfast on the Island!”

Kapalua Plantation Course
Ranked #3 of 16 things to do in Kapalua
Certificate of Excellence

Attraction details
Owner description: Consistently ranked as the #1 golf course in Hawaii, playing The Plantation Course is sure to be on every golfer's bucket list. Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the course was designed on a grand scale in keeping with its location on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains and offers dramatic ocean views from virtually every hole. Its lengthy 7,411 yard par 73 layout challenges the pros but it's wide fairways and generous greens make it very playable for the average golfer. With dramatic elevation changes, this course offers plenty of downhill tee shots. You'll feel like one of the pros when - with the aid of the aggressive slope of the 18th fairway - you will enjoy hitting one of the longest drives of your life. The Plantation Course is the site of the PGA TOUR Hyundai Tournament of Champions each January featuring an elite field of previous year's PGA TOUR winners.

“Gimmicky overpriced without any magic.”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

What is it with Troon courses. The guys behind the counter are so bitter and unhappy all the time? No exception in Hawaii. What a bunch of sourpusses. Probably as the course is so overpriced and they feel bad ripping off golfers. The locals pay $80 and that is all it is worth but Hawaii loves to squeeze the tourist. The views are great but the course is nothing to write home about. Go to the muni's. They are more fun.

“Yes, bucket list”
Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

Indescribable views. Wide open fairways. Professional and courteous staff. Played 18 in 3-1/2 hours. It's well worth the money, play it if you have the chance. Afterward, you will say it is the best course you have played and you will remember it for a lifetime.

“Golfing doesn't get much better...”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Great PGA course with great views of the ocean on just about every hole. The wind made it very very difficult. As did the greens (fast and tricky), but overall this course has definitely earned it's #19 in the USA ranking by Golf Digest.

“Good course but not after being sanded.”
Reviewed September 17, 2013 via mobile

I've played other courses after they have been sanded but this was altogether different. Each green was like a beach! Felt like an inch of sand. Made putting impossible. Discounted rate but glad we didn't plan on scoring the round.
