“Amazing sunsets!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

If you want views of sunset (and maybe a cocktail) then you MUST go to Merriman's and sit out on the patio! You have a wide open, unobstructed view of the sunset and you get views of the other islands. What a great way to end the day- they even have fire pits to keep you warm as the sun sets low in the sky. Great appetizers and drinks- come dressed as you are and enjoy the early evening, you will not be dissappointed!

“Return visit...Still an outstanding place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

We like to eat here every time we are in Maui and we were again not disappointed! Wait staff very helpful in answering our questions. The meal was good...and of course, the view is spectacular. Our only complaint is that it is a very noisy restaurant. We could hardly hear the entertainment so I cannot tell you if they were good or not....I personally do not like live entertainment during my dinner....usually so loud you cannot have a conversation but we couldn't really hear them so they were a nonentity. We will be back.

“Anniversary Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

We chose Merriman’s for our 10th anniversary dinner based on suggestions from local friends living on West Maui. Arriving in a rain squall to valet parking was a big plus. Although a bit damp the atmosphere was amazing with a breathtaking view. The service and wait-staff were very attentive and not overbearing. I went for the recommended special and my lovely wife had the Lobster. Throughout the meal and dessert we were mesmerized by the view, service, and quality of the food. Next time on Maui we will defiantly be going back for a special treat.

“Dining to the noise of clattering cutlery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

Visited twice on a recent visit to Maui. Our first visit was for sundowner drinks to check the place out, it had been recommended to me by a colleague. Yes, it is lovely, yes, there is a stunning view. Our server was ok, we were not told all the happy hour details so just muddled along with what was on the menu. Ordered a bottle of wine and settled down to enjoy the vibe. Which we did, and especially when the live music started in the restaurant that was piped thru to us via speakers, this band was/is AMAZING! We did notice that the wine we ordered was from a different region in New Zealand than what was stated on the wine list, we pointed it out but not sure if any feedback was given to management. We shared a couple of appetizers, and they were small but tasty. This gave us incentive to book for a dinner. Our evening experience wasn't as positive, we did opt for the 5pm table to allow for a sunset view experience, but I found that with the blinds closed for shading, (understandable) until 6.15pm, and with all the noise from the dining room, I felt too enclosed, and the noise was reverberating around, cutlery clattering......and no music.....the atmosphere felt lacking, it was disappointing. Food was ok, my favourite part was the brocolli rice cake. Our server that night was once again, just ok, a smidge of insincerity and an air of doing just enough to get through the night. I left the restaurant with the sentence, 'resting on their laurels' running through my mind. In trying to sum up how I feel, I think I felt just part of the masses, not seen, not heard, it wasn't a special experience.

“Best restaurant on the Island with fabulous food and views.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

Reservations are a must. We made 5:15 pm reservations and they sat us early - we received the best seat which has a full ocean view. If you want a full ocean view arrive when the restaurant first opens. Don't rush your meal and enjoy the views. We saw a whale breach. You can't go wrong at this restaurant. Food and service were amazing. We started with the Ahi Poke to start, entree was the small filet and scallops. Flavors were great. Desserts were Coconut Cream Brûlée (Amazing) Pineapple bread pudding. If you aren't interested in dinner they have an open deck were you have full ocean views and can enjoy a drink while watching the sunset. One of the best ocean view dinning experiences on the island.
