“one of my favorite meals”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

we took our family (10 in all) to merrimans with absolutely no expections - because of the size of our party and a same day reservation we had an 830 seating so we missed the scenery. the atmosphere was relaxed, a great musician was finishing his last set (wished he had played one more), the table was great, the breeze refreshing. Nice selection of unusual cocktails, we shared appetizers - all great, of the ten entrees selected by our group there were no complaints, both meat and fish were well prepared. The wine list was varied - and expensive. I'm not ashamed to say I ordered the cheapest bottle of zin on the list - peachy canyon west, and it was great. desserts were fabulous - especially the in the bag, hot, shaken balls of heaven(cant remember the name, but they melt in your mouth). Service was probably the best I've had for this large a group. Several staff helped, they were there when needed, but not intrusive at all. We never wanted for a thing, but when the meal was over you couldnt really remember them being there - remarkable.

“Happy Hour on the Patio”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

We went to the Happy Hour (3-5 PM), where glasses of wine are 25% off the regular (very, very high) prices. The view was incredible! The service was something else. It took some time to get waited on, and then the waitress spilled my husband's wine as she was pouring it but didn't offer to give him another pour. Then, when we had our second and last glass of wine, I switched from Chardonnay to Sauvignon Blanc, so she brought a new glass but poured my husband's Pinot Grigio into my new glass, and added my Sauvignon Blanc to the remaining wine in his glass. When we were finally able to get her attention to point out the error, she offered to replace my wine, but we just asked for the check and left. We cancelled our dinner reservation, figuring that a restaurant this expensive should have a much better trained wait staff. Yet, the views from the patio were lovely.

“Romantic Location and Terrific Cuisine”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

We made dinner reservations for sunset and were not disappointed with a spectacular view. Food and service were outstanding. The chef puts his own creative and delicious touch on each appetizer, salad, entre, and dessert. This was by far the best meal we had during our eight day stay in Maui. If you want a special dinning experience, this is the place to go. Bon appetite.

“Nice...but pricey and a bit slow”
Reviewed January 31, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant came highly recommended. So our party of 5 tried it on Wed night. The ambiance is nice. The food was well prepared and nicely presented although our entire party, including our petite wives, found the portions on the small side. The menu prices are on the high side. Our check came to around $60 per head before tip which included a bottle of relatively in expensive white wine ($60). The wine list appears to be marking up around 3.5x. Our server was pleasant and professional, but overall the service was slow. Our salads came almost immediately, then there was about 30 minutes or so before the main course. Overall, we had a nice time, but not sure this would make my "must return" list for my next trip to Maui.
