I've had a couple different experiences here and they've all been great. My last experience was an even more unexpectedly great experience.

The reason I say unexpected is because my last experience at Merriman's was for a wedding. After having a couple great memorable meals at Merriman's in the past, I figured they'd have to compromise quality of food for a wedding. WOW was I wrong. The food at the wedding was as good as on a regular menu night. I really had the best pasta I've ever eaten and one of the best filet mignon's I've ever eaten. That says ALOT given that it was a wedding night where they had to serve 100 people at one time. I was truly impressed.

It also goes without saying that the location and setting is one of the best in all of Hawaii (not just Maui). You definitely don't want to miss out on Merriman's during a trip to Maui.

Thanks again for another memorable experience.

We decided to go to Merriman's for dinner the very first night in Maui.
We made reservations and got there around 7 PM. We were told that our table was not quite ready and it would only be a few minutes wait. We all ordered drinks and sat and waited.
We were finally brought over to a nice table on the terrace. They had a nice couple playing music and singing. We got our menus and we decided on a surf and turf and a bowl of onion soup to start. They used fried green tomatoes as coutons and it was delicious. We really enjoyed our meals and the service was impecable. When we go back to that side of the lsland we will definitely go back there.

Make reservations for after dark but go before sunset and have a cocktail on the outside back patio (recommend the fresh pineapple vodka martini)! Watch the sun go down and they'll come get you when your table is ready. Food was as good as the view and easy shuttle from the Ritz, although is walkable with comfortable shoes.

We enjoyed cocktails on the large outdoor patio and when we arrived we were one of the few couples there so we enjoyed great attention at first. As it got closer to sunset, our waitress was hard to find and we were surprised that they only had two of them for such a large area. Even with that, we had a great time, the view is amazing and you feel like you are right on the water with an expansive view! We had dinner reservations and this is THE place for sunset so we quickly realized that the earlier reservations (before 6pm) were the ones that got front seat view in the restaurant for sunset. We still had a decent view and really didn't mind since we had spent a while on the patio first. The meal was great, our service was good, the original waiter was decent and when it got really busy, another one started serving us and he was VERY good. We enjoyed the coffee and dessert, probably the best on our Maui trip. Highly recommend the French press coffee, the waiter found out the name and we later found in central Maui. People go here for the sunset view and it is a great one, but the food is high quality and overall a great experience. Don't miss it while on West Maui.

Setting, food, service, ambience are absolutely fantastic. Our first experience was so good we went back two nights later. Lovely live, subdued, entertainment. It's expenssive but worth every penny. Be sure to make an advance reservation. It's packed.
