“The only place to stay on Maui.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

The location was amazing, facilities indescribable, and service was perfect. You simply will not find a better location for a resort. Kapalua Bay is pristine, uncrowded, and beautiful. We snorkeled in the bay in the morning with green turtles and laid in the sun at the pool in the afternoon. Free shuttle to the Fish House for breakfast and skip the expensive hotel buffet.

The Ritz is a great place for a long vacation. We stayed at the hotel with our two children age 7 and 10 for seven nights. We were greeted with a kukui nut necklace that my children just loved. We booked a residential garden view suite. It came equipped with a large kitchenette that included microwave, dishwasher, blender, and large freezer/refrigerator. Thought it was a garden view we could still see the ocean. It is 900 sq feet so we felt that we had ample space. The hotel overall is quite clean and well maintained. Our housekeeper Primi was terrific. We love the location because it is on the north end of the island where there are fewer tourists. The downside it is 15-20 minutes to Lahaina. Kapalua Bay is within walking distance which is a great place to take young kids snorkeling. Also DT Fleming Beach is located right off the property and is a great beach for boarding. The pool is fantastic for both adults and children. The pool service was excellent we were always well stocked with food and drink. There is a restaurant poolside and beachfront For the most part we ate our meals on the property which is expensive. The breakfast buffet is expensive but worth it. The Alaloa Lounge is the lobby lounge that offers a fairly extensive menu in a casual atmosphere. There is a fun all natural coffee shop onsite called Aina. You can get fresh squeezed juice, smoothies, and nut milk. There are some lower cost options nearby. For the most part the service was genuine and what you would expect from the RItz. The lei making day was terrific...good instruction and gorgeous flowers. My children loved making a lei and wearing it over the next few days. Because our departing was so late we decided to book an extra night and it was no problem. You don't really need to use the workout room because you can do just about anything outside but I felt like doing my running on a treadmill one day. The workout room is well equipped and spacious. Two minor criticisms 1) It would be nice to have recycling bins for the plastic water bottles 2) When we checked in the bellman said he would have housekeeping setup the pullout bed while we were at dinner. Upon our return it was not completed and we had to make a phone call. Overall, it was a great stay. We would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua for 10 days in September. During our stay, we enjoyed the beautiful hotel grounds, breath taking nearby beaches, delicious food, and delightful staff. Their attention to detail (from a warm welcome to a congratulations on your anniversary champagne and gift basket) was impressive. We can't wait to return to Maui. And, yes, we will be staying at the Ritz again!

For the price, I expected to be greeted with a Lei or at least a Mai Tai. (The Ritz in St Thomas knows how to greet you!) First trip to Hawaii and so disappointed with our choice for the cost. The grounds and pool are very pretty but it was just a resort pool. The beach is a long walk and when you finally get there, they simply give you a towel to sit on the beach. If you ask for a chair, they will hand one to you. The beach is not manicured, it is not private, NO drink boy or towel set up at the beach. Not pampered at all. (This might be local rules but just wanted you to know.) There is service at the pool area but the big disappointment here was the Maui Jim guy going chair to chair soliciting to sell you a pair of sunglasses! Am I at the Ritz? While the staff is nice, they don't have the polished professional service that they should. The room was nice with an ocean view, but not ocean front. The sheets were great. (Low season but still $500 a night.) The service in The Terrace restaurant was perfect but the food was not worth the $200 price tag. Music in the lobby was good at night and the wait staff were nice. However, the drinks were not good. We loved Maui. We would just stay at a different resort next time. Don't miss the road to Hana or the crater park at 10,000 feet. Also, Mama's fish house was the highlight!

I promised my wife a trip to Maui and Ritz - Carlton's staff made it a complete success. Common sense dictates if its worth doing do it right and you get what you pay for. If you want to be the average tourist there are many places you can go. When you want to be treated like royalty now you know where to go. I had the best experience with the valet staff they anticipated what I wanted and took the guess work out of the equation. when I wanted to do something special for my wife it was there for me I don't want to put this young man on blast he knows who he is Ritz Carlton could not find another person to represent them. he helped me set up a picnic and many memorable short trips with my wife. and don't forget the Food and beverage Manager thanks for the Sushi. If you want your moneys worth for a vacation RITZ CARLTON will always get my vacation cash.

I will start off with this hotel out of the four we stayed in had the most comfortable bed ever. The food and service was good. Spa was average. If you love golf, then go here...otherwise the only thing going for this place is it is close to the best restaurant on the island, Merriman's. There is apparently a really good breakfast at a shabby looking hotel nearby (can't remember the name). It must have been good because we got there early, but left because there was a two hour wait...didn't have the time. I feel ridiculous calling a Ritz Carlton average, but it just seemed generic. The staff was really nice! If we didn't experience the three other places maybe my opinion would be different. Again, if you like golf...this is your place.

Spent 10 nights here in Sept 2013. Best experience ever! Great property. Great employees. Great location...away from the maddening crowds and "Disney" environs 10 minutes south. We visited the competition down south i.e. Four Seasons and Grand Wailea and while both were nice a little too stuffy or touristy for our liking. Every time we came back on property from an activity there was a feeling of calm relief...sort of like coming back to a comforting safe home. It was difficult for both of us to leave. We have traveled and never felt this type of peacefulness. We were told "some feel the aloha spirit, some do not." We were indeed fortunate to experience this feeling. WE WILL BE BACK!

Room Tip: Just go there. We had a mountain side room. View was awesome. Sunrise from the decks with a cup of K...
