“Best hotel I've ever stayed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

We stayed here for 5 days March 2013 and couldn't have been happier. My wife and I were married here overlooking Lava Point. Lava Point is located near the picturesque Kapalua Bay Golf Course signature fifth tee. Needless to say the staff treated us like royalty. The hotel is located on the Northwest side of the island which we loved because of how private it was. 5 stars in every aspect!

The lobby check-in counter has been quite an experience, somehow it seems to be the female staff behind that counter that have been both unapologetic & quite rude on 2 occasions which spoilt my vacation. Overall, the stay of 3 nights has been trouble free. But we had an incident in which we wanted to change rooms & was advised they would get back to us later in the day. This never materialised, no call, no email.... Nothing. Until we returned later that evening after going out to surf, we had to be take the initiative to follow up. Even then, it was another female customer service member behind the check-in counter, when we informed her of our situation, no apology at all.... When we asked how come there was no apology, she responded with I apologised before... What a response.. I have never encountered anyone from a top tier hotel chain who would speak with such a tone. All I can say is when at that counter, set your expectations of customer service at rock bottom... Don't let it spoil your vacation!

Service is the best here at this hotel. From the valet attendants, front desk, pool staff, and restaurant staff, everyone did a great job with most going out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The cleaning staff does a great job as well with keeping the rooms clean and spotless everyday.

This resort is more for couples or adults in general. Our kids did enjoy the beach and pools but they found it quite tame. There wasn't much surf at the beach which may be nice for infants or toddlers. They have chairs near the beach you can check out. If you find the walk a little far, just take the golf cart shuttles. Be sure to stop by the Discovery center on the way down or up and check out Loco & Moco.

The dining facilities are superb, especially the breakfast buffet. There's a sushi place nearby that fills up quick so go early if you want to try it out.

Overall, this was a great stay and this is the place to go if you want to be pampered in Maui.

First off, the service and people were fantastic. They would come and do a turn down service at 10pm. The employees were always happy to assist and serve. Not once did I encounter an unhappy or annoyed employee. They always great with an "aloha" and try and go out of their way to assist. The room was big and luxurious. There was a kitchen table. Sofa/sofabed. A bedroom. Shower and bathtub and two balconies. The view wasn't that great, couldn't see the ocean. However, the location was secluded from the more crowded resorts on maui. There was no traffic or noisy people. Very peaceful. Did I mention you could see the Milky Way? And shooting stars. My favorite part was feeling safe and comfortable to go for a swim at 12am (pool is open 24/7) just to lie back and look at the stars. My only concern was that the bed in the room had an overslept in mattress which caused it to dip in the middle. Housing gave only two options: put a board under there or switch rooms. They stated all their mattresses are like that. It wasn't a huge deal because I was overly satisfied with my stay. In addition they were overly accommodating for my grandmother's 80th birthday. They gifted her with a beach bag and a light fleece. It was a very sweet gesture from the hotel, one that I have not seen before. Advice: if you can afford to spend a little extra and don't mind being a few minutes extra from the highway, stay here. It's peaceful and enchanting.

This is an amazing hotel with all the extra ammenities. The breakfast, alone, is worth the stay. The pool is glorius, while it looks onto the ocen. The rooms are spacious and there is plenty to do for kids. I would definitely stay here again.

If your idea of a Maui vacation is fabulous swimming and snorkeling 200 feet from your room and falling asleep at night to the sounds of the surf, stay at Napili Kai Beach Resort or The Mauian; however, if you demand air-conditioned elegance, a Tommy Bahama store on site, don't mind sharing the pool with a gaggle of children (who should be in school), and walking a quarter mile to a marginal wind blown swimming beach, the Ritz is your place. That being said, the food is very good and the service throughout the resort is impeccable.

It was absolutely amazing! It was absolute perfection from the time we were greeted by the bellmen to our room and pool and restaurant and golf coarse... It was a slice of heaven on earth. We can't wait to go back.. My girlfriend actually teared when leaving the hotel.. I asked her what's wrong.. she said "nothing's wrong.. This hotel and Maui are amazing.. And I don't want to leave"...
