“Nice and quiet”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

We arrived 27th December 2012 and stayed for two nights. Our room at the first floor was spacious and had a view towards the main (where the reception is located) building. The room was clean but subliminal smelly. The owner assured that for years it is prohibited by law to smoke inside of a hotel or even restaurant.

Unfortunately we had some non-solved problems with our daily WiFi mB access. My fiancé was not fond of the early 80's style bathroom but I did not have any problems with it. We received every day 4 new bathtowels. Although we had a bathtube with whirlppol function it had water nozzles only.

The kitchen had everything we needed but sometimes in the night the fridge was a little bit disturbing.

The motor lodge is located outside of Upper Hutt but because of this it is very quiet.

Good sized apartments in a beautiful environment. The staff were friendly, homely and obliging. We were impressed enough to spend time there both going to Christchurch and again on the return.

Excellent location on the edge of Upper Hutt, close to the mainline railway into Wellington. Very bushy rural setting. The old house, used for conventions and weddings, is beautiful. Ask for a tour. The hosts are top-notch being both friendly, flexible and helpful. The motel units are fairly large and comfortable. The cooking facilities are standard for New Zealand motels i.e. you can do a minimalist meal but you wouldn’t want to throw a dinner party. The place is close to the many parks in the Upper Hutt valley and we also found it easy to get to Kapiti Island. There is also a laundry.

Room Tip: Pretty similar as far as I could tell.

great setting in a park like environment, rooms basic ($140.00 room) but comfortable and clean.
Unfortunately we clashed with a wedding booking so poor sound proofing in the room meant a restless night and very tight car parking.
That aside I would recommend wallace lodge as a place to stay if you are looking for something a little different

Room Tip: Check there are no function guests staying over if a quiet night is what you are looking for

My hubby and I couldnt believe coming up the driveway that this is where we were staying. The house is separate and there is a building down a small hill which is the lodge and believe me there is no diff in how good the building looks.

We had seen the pictures on the web and as usual discounted that it wouldnt be as nice - but we were very pleasantly proven wrong. We got there a little late so didnt get to enjoy the place as much as we would have liked.

We got a room on the ground floor looking up the hill ( which is where I think most people probably have their weddings - I could understand why) . The room was spacious with a few sofa's by the window to enjoy the view while we were having a cup of coffee. The kitchenette is well stocked with utensils etc and a tea/coffee tray. We were a little paranoid on our whole trip about the water so were carrying bottled water to drink.

Just be a bit careful whle looking for it or you may miss the gate completely as it is surrounded by trees.

A little drive down is a quaint shopping area. Was less than a half hour from the wellington ferry.

Hard place to find and off the beaten path, but worth the good nights sleep! Comfortable room in beautiful surroundings. Included WiFi. Ordered pizza from Hell, local Pizza chain, and enjoyed dinner with a view. Recommend a stay here!

We chose Wallaceville House for our wedding reception as the venue was elegant and tucked away from the hustle bustle of the city in its own private garden setting. What a magical retreat. Beautiful grand white buildings lit up at night. The accomodation is also beautiful - and I can't believe how affordable it is! Definately our favourite place to stay in Wellington. A real gem of a find. Lovely, friendly service - our wedding was a dream come true. Our guests, who also stayed at Wallaceville House, said it was the most elegant wedding they had ever been too. Thank you Wallaceville House!
