We have stayed here twice, each time on our way to the Wellington ferry for an early sailing. The rooms are great, roomy and well equipped. The restaurant is casual and friendly. This seems typical of an owner operated business where you get excellent service with good value. Even though the railway line is adjacent I have never been woken or heard the train go by so must be well sound proofed. The access to the Wellington motorway is easy and it is a quick trip to Wellington in the early hours but would be busy later in the day. I would stay again and highly recommend this place.

I stopped in this motel because of its position not too far from the city of Wellington from which, the next morning, once dropped off my rented car at the airport, I had to proceed by plane to the South Island. I was positively impressed by the location, the very, very spacious rooms and their comfort. Yes, the frequent trains were passing nearby, but the room was soundproof enough and the coming and going of customers in and from the pub-restaurant on the ground floor, could not be heard. After all, this was a good experience at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: The reception is in the cafe/restaurant and follows the same opening times. When I had to drop my ro...

Have now stayed at Finns on six occasions for two to three nights while visiting family nearby, and we keep going back when in the area due to the lovely comfortable, clean well equipped rooms and friendly service- nothing is too much trouble.
The restaurant downstairs is a great place to eat when in Paekakariki.

Room Tip: We have used studio apartment rooms 3 and 5 and both are excellent

We were on a Steam Incorporated steam train excursion from Paekakariki to Wanganui & stayed 2 nights (in room 6) at Finns.

We were 'gobsmacked' at the size of room - easily twice as big as most regular rooms.
Superbly fitted out with top hotel standard bathroom fittings - Complete with top of the range spa bath.

Unfortunately was not able to sample their cuisine because of train commitments. We had our own breakfast food & they did supply us on request with milk & bread for toast. (They have full continental breakfast available also).

Good kitchen facilities - Microwave, jug, crockery, utensils, sink etc.

Weren't able to sample their movie theatre either for the same reason above. A lovely proper movie theatre showing current movies. Fabulous - I don't know of any other accommodation establishment that has one..

Staff were most courteous, helpful & friendly. Most definitely will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for room 6 - we understand this is the biggest one (like huge!)

What a great place to stay at. Easy to find and express check in with no problems. We upgraded to a superior room. Well worth the extra cost. Also had a view out over the road to the beach shops and cafes. And a view over the railway road crossing so you could see the trains coming to and from the station. The great thing is with the windows closed there is no road or train noise. The room had a great big king size bed and nice furnishings. If we were staying there for breakfast the deck of the room would have been the place to sit and eat. Great size bathroom with a nice spa bath. The complex also has a good bar and restaurant as well as its own cinema. Next time we must stay another night and watch a movie there.

Room Tip: Go for a street facing view.
