Went with my husband to this restaurant, the second time we have visited. The first time was with two friends. On both occasions I was very impressed, not only with the atmosphere, but with the staff and the food. On one occasion there was a problem which was sorted out very quickly, and with a good attitude. Looking forward to going back soon, and will gladly recommend this place.

This used to be a large chain pub but was tastefully refurbished over a year ago and is now part of a local group of four pubs, all in Hertfordshire. We had an early evening dinner which up to 7 pm offers a special menu of two courses for £12.50. (Which we were not given but had to request - a new inexperienced server?) There are also daily specials and a full al a carte menu, which offer a wide range of prices to meet most tastes and pockets.

For pub restaurant food our meals were excellent with innovative combinations e.g. baked cod with battered fennel. All our party found their dishes well cooked and tasty with good presentation. The restaurant was recommended by a friend and it is easy to see why it is now so popular and quite busy for a weekday evening. It deserves to succeed.

This is a lovely place for dinner. Been here twice and the food was fantastic on both occasions. Quite a varied menu and not too expensive for what you are getting. Good atmosphere - it can get loud in the evenings. Nice bar area with open fires and leather sofas. The servers were quite good at moving at our pace and the manager (?) was around checking that customers were happy.

Can't fault the food or the service. Both amazing. Staff incredibly friendly and make you feel at ease. One small gripe is that it does get very busy and sometimes the tables are quite close... You can hear everything that's going on at the other tables, a table near us kept sending their food back- although from what we could hear and what we knew of the food we knew it was a case of the customer unforetunately not liking the food...

We visited this restaurant for a family gathering, the food was well presented and tasted great and the menu has a lot of choice. Great decor and interior for a very old pub originally....
