“First trip to Greek Islands”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

This was our first trip to the greek islands after my Sister's recommened the island. The Hotel was brilliant but if you have difficulty geeting around I wouldn't recommend it due to the un level nature of the terrian. The staff were all very pollite and helpful and spoke good english, which helps with those of us that don't make much attempt to speak the language when abroad. The food was of a high standard and varied which is good for a fussy eater like me. Can't quite make out what all the fuss is about the dress code for dinner as this is only in keeping with the quality of the accomadation and standards, it gave the wife plenty of opportunity to wear all those new dresses. Good location to base yourself to visit the entire island.

Room Tip: The room that view onto the rear of the hotel are not noisy despite the road near by.

I have to agree with everything in the recent review by Membersouthwest. The White Rocks could be absolutely fabulous, with just a few improvements. We just came back from ten days in mid September. The location is stunning with views over the sea and sunsets to die for, and on the whole the accommodation and public areas are extremely comfortable, modern and well furnished. But for a hotel whose website advertises it as a five star, it lets itself down with some silly penny pinching savings and other inexplicable omissions. For example, the orange juice at breakfast is diluted concentrate rather than fresh juice, horrible! There is no sugar on the tables so when the waiters pour your coffee or tea you have to get up and and get your own sugar from the buffet counter. Alright I know that's hardly a deal breaker, but why on earth not have sugar on the tables? In the accommodation, there is no tea or coffee although they provide kettles and crockery, again why? Also no facial tissues in the bathroom although toiletries are provided. I totally agree too with comments about the pool area. For a hotel of this standard, it needs an overhaul. Better, more comfortable sunbeds are needed. The pool bar food menu is boring and bland and is not good enough quality for a 5 star hotel. a waiter service for food and drinks should also be provided. Finally, we would have eaten in the a la carte restaurant on some evenings as a change to the buffet (which could get a bit monotonous, particularly the starters) but there is no allowance made against the bill for those who want to do this as a change of venue/menu - unlike many other hotels we've stayed in where a fixed sum is allowed against the a la carte bill. So instead we opted to eat out in Lassi on three out of our ten days which while very pleasant, was annoying when you've already paid for dinner at the hotel. We would go back to Lassi. But are not sure about going back to the White Rocks.

The hotel is set in a lovely location and has recently been refurbished(had been there twice before). The rooms are now much brighter and comfortable. A kettle is provided but no coffee or milk.
The food was lovely but unfortunately we had to queue for a table unless we ate very late.
The beach bar is beautiful and is a perfect setting to look out over the sea under lovely shady pine trees.
There is also a lovely cocktail bar in the grounds playing great music.
Entertainment is 2 nights of wonderful greek bouzouki music.
A perfect haven for a peaceful and relaxing holiday

We took my 92yr old Father to this hotel although it does have a lot of steps it did not stop him from getting about.
The hotel staff were really friendly and very helpful as I had emailed them before going, regarding a suitable room for him.
all the staff were friendly and the food was excellent. I had read in other reviews about the wait but this is only if everyone goes at 7.30 if you go slightly later its fine. Just remember you are on holiday so NO rush.
I cant wait to go again next year with friends.

Room Tip: Have a sea view or a bungalow

Reception welcoming, helpful, friendly and efficient. The room was immaculate, clean and well equipped with flat screen TV, air conditioning and masses of draws and wardrobe space. The mini-bar prices are not too extortionate either so we did make some use of it. Bathroom also immaculate with the usual goodies and an excellent hairdryer. The hotel has a modern and quite upmarket feel to it with interesting decor and attentive staff. The buffet restaraunt has fantastic views of the sunset and the choice and quality of the food is absolutely wonderful. There is also an a la carte restaraunt which we didn't feel the need to even consider visiting - neither did anyone we spoke to. The resort is quite elongated along a cliff top so there is some walking needed to visit the beautiful infinity pool and a steep slope down to the private pebbly beach and many steps down to the public sandy beach which is much better for swimming. There is a bus stop at the north end of the hotel grounds which will take you to the main town and Its only five minutes walk to the local mini supermarket as there is no shop at the hotel (except a jewellery shop). All in all definately better than average for a package tour hotel. Petr and Louise

Room Tip: get a sea view room.

Amazing hotel in a suberb location.
Modern chic decor and extremely clean- we were in a sea view bungalow which exceeded our expectations.
Great sunsets from the terrace and pre dinner cocktails at the Corner Bar are a must.
Hired a car to visit Fiscardo, Sami, Assos, Lixouri and Myrtos beach - very easy to find your way around.
Fantasic food - diets since our return!
You certainly won't be dissapointed with any aspect of your holiday if you choose the White Rocks

Room Tip: It's worth paying the extra for a bungalow - for the large spacious rooms, views, private terrac...

After much researching on Hotels in Kefelonia I decided to book the White Rocks Hotel for myself and my husband to come and stay for a week in September , we had previously gone to Zante and loved it so much that we decided to give Kefelonia a go as that was also in the Ionian Sea .

From the time we arrived in Kefelonia , cleared immigration with ease , bags waiting for us when we got through , collected the car and off we went to the White Rocks Hotel and found it straight away .

As you approach the hotel the car park is on the right hand side and the Hotel is set slightly down and built in to the rocks on the left hence the name White Rocks.

From the time we walked in to the Hotel we absolutely loved it , yes the actual building isn't the prettiest but it fits perfectly camouflaged behind the beautiful pine trees and the grounds are absolutely lovely , you have the main hotel with sea and garden view rooms and then you have bungalows set out alongside which is approx 5 minute walk away from the main building where the restaurant and bar is but a very pleasant walk. We paid a little extra and had a sea view room 219 which had a lovely outlook over the beach , we were the second floor which was the same level as the reception area so not to far to walk. The room was very spacious had the most comfortable bed it felt like my mattress at home which is a memory mattress and the pillows were lovely and soft as well , the bathroom was very contemporary and clean which we loved , it had plenty of wardrobe and draw space and plenty have hangers , there was a mini bar which we used to store our water and milk in , there was a kettle and cups and saucers and we bought some coffee from the local supermarket so we could sit on the balcony with a cup.

White Rocks have a private pebble beach which is absolutely lovely with all sun beds and parasols dotted along the very thin stretch of shingle beach, the water is so clear and warm you could spend hours just snorkelling around the rocks , you come off the beach and walk slightly up the hill and there is a lovely little bar open until 1800 everyday where you can sit and have a glass of wine and watch the amazing sunsets and read a book , totally relaxing.

There is also the corner bar which is open from 1830 until 130 in the morning and Katerina the waitress and her colleague run the bar just the two of them and it so lovely to sit there and have a drink before dinner , I had read on TA that you had to wait for drinks but we ordered our drinks and within minutes they were there . Katerina did apologise to us and said that after dinner when all the guests come down for a drink it gets busy and because there is only two of them the drinks can be a bit slower but like we said we are on holiday and have all the time in the world and that it was not a problem for us.

We were booked on half board but we knew that Kefelonia have some fantastic restaurants so we did not want to eat in the hotel all of time but the times we did we could not fault the food , they have a different theme every night , I always had a really nice salad accompanied by some of the tastiest and crispest brown bread I have ever tasted and always skipped the main and sneaked in a dessert instead , you cannot fault the food it looked and tasted fantastic , ok it isn't A'LCarte but what was there was excellent and I think they deal with the volume of people very efficiently it cannot be easy when the Hotel is fully booked , the restaurant is overlooking the sea with bi folding doors that can be opened to let in the lovely soft breeze.

When people ask us where we are staying and we say the White Rocks they say to us the Posh Hotel , having driven around the island a bit and seeing a number of Hotels along the way I am very pleased that we chose the White Rocks Hotel , it is a really lovely Hotel with amazing views and grounds and the majority of staff are lovely as well once you get chatting to them and making an effort to talk to them , I would definitely recommend it and will certainly stay there again , Thank you White Rocks it was fantastic and we loved every moment of it

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a sea view room you will not be disappointed
