Could believe that this magnificent cathedral was built in the 1890!!!, a little disappointed as it looks gothic, very wonderful though.

“FANTASTIC BUILDING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

Took mum to Truro Cathedral on Wednesday 18th September as it would have been my dads birthday and we all lit a candle. As we was walking round the building, my 9 year old son with autism was asked if would like to help ring the church bells to which he enjoyed. A lovely place to visit.

“A little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

Truro Cathedral is almost a 'new' building, indeed, as cathedrals go it's practically a baby, but absolutely charming. It has some architectural anomalies which add to its character, one of the rows of columns isn't straight for example. We were lucky enough to get the free guided tour - a small group which was even better and the guide was a real asset to the cathedral's publicity, she had some wonderful stories. The alter is a surprise - there was no frontal on it the day we visited and I was intrigued to see that it wasn't a kind of stone refectory table type of thing but rather resembling a big oblong box which had been painted with a lovely design. The Rose windows are breathtaking, not brash and blousy but intricate and delicate. I've visited many churches and cathedrals, in England and Europe and been very impressed - often it is the sheer size which has such an impact, Truro will stay in my memory for the compactness and little details which almost seem to 'miniaturize' this beautiful structure. It also is a comfortable place to be, one hesitates to describe a cathedral as cosy, but it has a 'warm blanket feel about it which will encourage me to revisit when next we are in Cornwall

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

Make time for a visit inside this beautiful cathedral. With fantastic stained glass, amazing architecture and a lovely (reasonably priced) cafe at the rear, it's well worth a visit.
Bonus = It's FREE to enter.
