This was a delightful guest house with lovely hosts, rooms and scenery. Full English breakfast and yummy cakes for afternoon tea. Close to the town centre, shopping and restaurants.
We stayed for three nights in early May talking lots of lovely walks and feeding the resident ducks and ducklings xx

I recently went here with a few friends for a jewellery making course overlooking the river. It was the perfect place to chose. The food was lovely (the cakes to die for) and the setting was just gorgeous. I love this place! Thank you for being so welcoming!

This is one of the best B&B's, with one of the most peaceful locations, and beautiful views, we have ever stayed in.

Based on a tight schedule for our UK trip, we chose Truro as our base for a couple of days in Cornwall. We used TA to choose The Old Vicarage - and I am so glad we did! It is actually in tiny St Clement - 1 mile away on the edge of Truro - but you feel like you are in another world. It sits on the edge of the river, looking out over a peaceful little bay to nothing but trees on the other side. The garden is full of beautiful birdlife.

The property has been wonderfully restored: modern and elegant, yet warm and friendly. All rooms are beautifully decorated - but if you can, stay in one with a view. Ours was magnificent, and I could have sat in the bay window and watched the garden and river all day (but too much sightseeing to do!) And yes, the bathroom was amazing.
Breakfasts are delicious in a wonderful glass room overlooking the gardens. The hosts were very engaging and friendly.

For the level of luxury, service and quality, we thought this was a very reasonably priced B&B.

The point about mobile reception is valid - the signal was weak but we did manage to check emails, and did not need to do business.

At breakfast, we met another guest, a regular business traveller in the area, who had stayed in the local chain hotel till he discovered The Old Vicarage. As he said, "why would you stay in a chain hotel, when for the same price you can stay here, enjoy a breakfast like this and look at a view like that?". I agree.

Room Tip: Choose "a room with a view" if you can, even though the standard room is lovely, the view...

Absolutely excellent. Very friendly, very comfortable, very peaceful.

Only slight drawback for me as it was a combined business and leisure trip was no mobile phone signal (on Vodafone), so had to make a list of people to phone then drive up the hill and work from my car. Not the fault of the hotel though - and that may well be a bonus for other people! However the hotel offered me the use of their phone at anytime if I wanted to book taxis etc, but I didn't want to take advantage of the kind offer as it would have been for at least 2 hours a day, often to overseas numbers.

So overall it's a great and quiet place to stay, and I'll come again. Probably the nicest place I've stayed for a year, and I spend 100 days a year (at least) in hotels.

Having read very positive reports on The Old Vicarage, St Clements, on tripadvisor, we decided to book a three night stay during a visit to Truro. As a former Truronian, I am aware of the locality but didn't realise what a gem this place is. I know the owners have put one heck of a lot of work into renovating The Old Vicarage.

We have stayed in 5 star hotels that don't come up to the standard of this B & B. It was more like a home from home and Marilyn and Jon and their staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

We have never stayed in a B & B so well furnished, decorated and welcoming before. The standard and finishing of the rooms were of the highest standards and the "walk in" shower was to die for. We stayed in the family room (Room 1)

The breakfast is cooked freshly for you while you overlook the extensive gardens and estuary.

I can recommend the afternoon cream tea. Marilyn does all the cooking herself and her scones and cakes are to die for. We did wrangle out of her, her recipe for scones, which we will see if we can be as successful as Marilyn.

They also will provide Sunday lunches but are without a liquor licence (blame the parish council's slowness on that one). However, for a small corkage fee, you can bring your own wine in to the meal table. Check with Jon on that one.

I have to say that The Old Vicarage is on the higher side of prices for B & B's but what you get for your money is well above so called starred hotels.

Would we stay there again? You bet. The only problem is that they only have 6 bedrooms and for what they offer, I can see a rosy future for Marilyn and Jon and a shortage of availability of rooms when the word spreads around.

We will be back................................

We read the reviews before booking two days at the Old Vicarage in April and I can understand why people rate it so highly. The hosts and staff were great and the place is beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The room we stayed in was luxurious with a view of the estuary a fantastic en-suite and very comfortable bed. The rooms we saw all had style with unique bathroom designs. The location is right on the estuary, so lovely and quiet, great for walking and running! although I don't think we ran far enough to make up for eating so much at breakfast!
We would recommend The Old Vicarage to all.

Best B&B we have stayed in- couldn't fault anything. Stayed in room 2 overlooking the river lovely room and beautifully furnished with comfortable bed and amazing bathroom. Lovely welcoming hosts. We recommend the delicious home baked cakes in the tea room -particularly the lemon and raisin scones!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the river
