“Fabulous tranquil Boutique B&B”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We read the reviews before booking two days at the Old Vicarage in April and I can understand why people rate it so highly. The hosts and staff were great and the place is beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The room we stayed in was luxurious with a view of the estuary a fantastic en-suite and very comfortable bed. The rooms we saw all had style with unique bathroom designs. The location is right on the estuary, so lovely and quiet, great for walking and running! although I don't think we ran far enough to make up for eating so much at breakfast!
We would recommend The Old Vicarage to all.

Best B&B we have stayed in- couldn't fault anything. Stayed in room 2 overlooking the river lovely room and beautifully furnished with comfortable bed and amazing bathroom. Lovely welcoming hosts. We recommend the delicious home baked cakes in the tea room -particularly the lemon and raisin scones!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the river

My daughter and i stayed overnight here and were very sorry... That we had not booked a longer stay!!!
If, like me,you are very fussy and appreciate attention to detail, cleanliness and high end fixtures and fittings then this is the place for you.
I have stayed at many 5star places across the world and can honestly say that this place is up there with the best.
From the stunning italian mosaic tiled ensuites to the finest quality beds and luxury linen, you will not be dissapointed.
The whole place is immaculatly clean and the owners are very friendly and welcoming without that over the top pretentiousness that you can sometimes get.
the grounds are beautiful and tranquil, and very picturesque.
We slept like babies, undisturbed by any noise whatsoever.
the rooms? wow is all i can say!. no expense spared here in creating that very high end feel. all the rooms are very special, no bad rooms here at all (we saw them all)
The place opens up as a tea room during the day enticing walkers and bird watchers in for tea and delightful homemade cakes, scones.
Our only dissapointment was having to venture out for evening meal as we really didnt want to leave, its sooo nice. any chance of offering an evening meal option marilyn????
If you are visiting Truro you absoutely must treat yourself to a stay here. we have now recommended the place to all our friends and will return for a longer stay soon.

Nothing to fault at all. Great room with beautiful bathroom. The bed is huge and we both had two great nights sleep. Breakfast was a treat and was served quickly and was delicious. The hosts are welcoming and friendly and looked after us.

This is our third time at the B&B and we are sure to be back.

Room Tip: Room 4 is the best we have stayed in so far. Amazing bathroom.

Excellent B&B, with no faults in my opinion, no signal in main areas ( which I enjoyed) but wifi available!

Breakfast was charming and top quality with no stone unturned. I want to return as soon as I can!

We've stayed in some very luxurious and special places around the world and I have to say, this is the best B&B ever! We couldn't find fault with anything. Marilyn & Jon are a lovely couple who have chosen equally lovely staff. Our room (no. 4) was stunning with a very comfortable bed, fab bed linen and the bathroom was amazing. Lying in the deep bath, watching TV and admiring the view - sheer heaven The breakfasts and lunches were delicious and as for the afternoon teas - well Marilyn's cakes are scrummy Dont go if you are on a diet! The whole place is spotless and welcoming and the location is perfect. A 6 minute drive from the centre of Truro (taxis are reasonable). We'll definitely be going back again this year.

Room Tip: They are all good but we loved room 4 overlooking the river plus with a fab bath.

Janet and Paul thank you for taking the time to post such a positive review. Being a relatively new business it makes all the planning and hard work worthwhile when we receive such amazing feedback. We are delighted that you loved room 4 so much, especially the bath. Jon and I look forward to seeing you both again later in the year.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights from 28th Feb, and had a great time. The hotel is beautiful, it's great that every room has a distinct feel and the location is perfect - very secluded, but within easy reach of Truro centre as well. What really makes the hotel are the people who own it/work there - Marilyn (the owner) was very welcoming and instantly put us at ease, and the other lady (I don't know her name) was very friendly and chatty as well. Breakfast was fantastic on both mornings, and the hotel also does lunch and afternoon tea (although unfortunately we didn't get round to trying this). All in all, a lovely, relaxing stay - if we are ever back down that way, we will not hesitate to book with The Old Vicarage again.
