“Weekend away”
Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

Stayed in this hotel last weekend and would definitely recommend it. The twin room we had was exceptionally spacious and immaculately clean. The hotel staff were very helpful and it was situated in a very good position for travelling around the area. The food was very good and the full English breakfast had Hogs pudding which was a new experience for me. I was expecting something like a black pudding which put me off but when it came was a type of sausage and really tasty. I would definitely stay here again if I went to Truro.

We have stayed here before and found it to be an excellent hotel which is in just the right place. We were visiting to do some family history research, meet with friends and attend a family event.
The rooms are well presented, clean and spacious. The only criticisms we have are that the room chairs are terribly comfortable and our room had a connecting door which was not soundproof - luckily our neighbours were not too noisy bet we could hear their conversations. Breakfasts were more than we should have eaten but they set us up for the day!

Room Tip: Try to get a room without a connecting door unless you need it.

Many Thanks for your review subsequent your recent stay with us; we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the rooms clean and spacious. We apologise about the chairs in the room being uncomfortable and the noise issues your encountered, for future reference we will be more than happy to bring you a chair over from the restaurant if required also our Superior rooms are all at the rear of the hotel with fantastic views across the Countryside for just £10 more per night- these rooms do not have inter-connecting doors. Thank you once again for your valued feedback, we look forward to seeing you again soon

My father was in the local hospital, and I needed to be closeby, it was 20 mins walking. The hotel is close to Aldi (opposite) and Sainsbury's - 5 mins walk. It has a good car park, with underground parking too, if you're precious. The spaces are a decent size, and you can leave the car at the hotel, and walk into town in about 20 minutes. It is, however, uphill on the way back, you may want to pay £1 and take the bus, they're very frequent.

The rooms are contemporary, clean and very big, which is a pleasant change! The toiletries in the bathroom are a nice touch. Towels nice and soft, and I was very pleased with my choice of a rear facing room, as the noise from the road may have been a problem for me, as I live in a rural area, but i'm incredibly fussy.

Breakfast, plentiful, great choice and constantly being monitored for replenishment. Pastries, toast, cereal, juice, fruit and it's all beautifully presented.

I had room service for the two nights I stayed as I was tired from hospital visits, it is delivered very quickly, and always by polite staff members, happy to accommodate. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bar was busy each evening, but this is not a 'rough hole' it's a nice upmarket public house, and will appeal to most age levels.

Staff are great, and I wouldn't hesitate to return as I felt so very welcome throughout my stay. I would mention only one little thing, the veggie food is very nice, and was well presented, and tasty, but i'd have liked more choice, of different dishes to those on the menu. They're not the greatest offering! Still ate well, and not complaining, and you don't get left hungry, it's just a 'heads up' from a veggie of 29 years!

All in all I would happily recommend this place, it deserves it's stars for the staff alone, and I will return again, as soon as the the next hospital visit is booked.

Room Tip: Go to the rear if you don't live in a built up area, as it is a 'tad' noisy at the front...

I had a work meeting in the Truro area and was recommended the County Arms by a colleague. The room was large and comfortable, nice furnishings and generally a lovely place to be after a very very long journey

The only negative was the slightly unimaginative menu in the restaurant, although the food was pretty well executed.
