“A very enjoyable stay”
Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for three nights on 6th April. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was no lift and we were on the third floor which made getting the suitcase up there a real adventure. The room was large and clean although the shower was only set to scolding so we made do with the bath. The food however was excellent! The staff catered for gluten-free diet very well and remembered the following night. A thoroughly enjoyable visit and we will definitely be returning to the hotel.

I am glad to see that you had an enjoyable stay and enjoyed the restaurant.
I am sorry to hear about your suitcase struggle, there should have been a Porter available. I recommend on your next visit to make extensive use of the Porters.
Kind Regards,
The Alverton

We stayed at the Alverton from 5th-7th April, the building itself is beautiful and even more so bathed in the beautiful Cornish sunshine. Staff were very friendly and helpful but not overbearing. Food was delicious and the breakfasts in particular were extraordinary, my favourite smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were absolutely divine......on the Saturday morning in particular the eggs were the best I've ever tasted, so rich and buttery, they were more 'beautifully caressed' than scrambled. Talking about our weekend in work two people have already looked to make bookings.....they won't be disappointed.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel following the wedding of a friend, so didn't therefore take full advantage of all the hotel had to offer. The room we were allocated was spacious and comfortable. It was very clean and the bathroom provided nice toiletries to use during our stay. The only downside, and it is a very minor one, was the room had a glass panel at the top and someone had left the landing light on which then made our room rather light.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant which overlooked the grounds beautifully. There was a very good selection of cooked dishes to choose from as well as the most amazing selection of nuts, grains and dried fruits to make your own muesli with. I also really liked the fact that there was honey made in the grounds available, as well as lots if other locally sourced produce. A great start to the day.

We stayed at The Alverton for 6 nights from Easter Sunday 2013, although the weather was cold we had a really warm welcome from ALL the staff. We up-graded our room and were really delighted with the new decor. The food was to die for especially the breakfasts, well and the evening meals were fantastic as well! We ate a lot of fish dishes and didn't have a bad meal. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and nothing was to much trouble. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and can't wait to go back to see what the alterations are going to be like.

My husband and I stayed in one of the newly designed suites at The Alverton on 23rd March 2013. It is a beautiful venue, with a calm and relaxed ambiance and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The room was divine balancing traditional decor with a contemporary twist and respecting the charm and character of the building. The dinner and breakfast were a joy! Congratulations on what is evolving into a very successful re-brand of this hotel, I will certainly recommend the hotel and will be exploring the potential of using the conferencing facilities in a business capacity. Many thanks for your hospitality.

The hotel is undergoing a much needed transformation. It is being done with care to the paying guests with wings of the hotel closed off to prevent any disturbance. Saying this the food was excellent - a cream tea that was more than generous with enough tea to satisfy the most ardent of tea drinkers!. The recently refurbished bedroom was lovely with plenty of space and a comfortable bed.We will be back and will wait to see what they accomplish with the communal spaces. The buildings have real character and the location within walking distance of the city centre belies the peace and quiet.

I visited the Alverton on a recent family trip - my Sister lives nearby and I booked the Alverton primarily based on location - what a lucky find!! I've driven past the entrance a number of times, but never realised what a great building/grounds sat just up the driveway.

It feels from the public areas as if the building is in mid-renovation (don't get me wrong - no visible building or construction work) as there are some old fashioned carpets, finishes etc mixed in with the newer fresher aras such as the check in lobby (behind a marvellous old fashioned double wooden door) - some of the other reviews also imply some rooms are not yet updated.

I was in a suite which was obviously a fairly recently updated room - very on trend in a boutique hotel style, not at all stuffy or old school. The room blended the features of the building - deep window seats, high ceilings etc. with good furnishings etc. Superb and very spacious bathroom with separate shower area and deep bath.
Breakfast service was great with good local ingredients served as part of the made to order hot breakfast (although no one spotted the glasses for juices at just above eye-level at the cold buffet table!)

I will certainly be staying here next time I am visiting family in Truro - as great find

Room Tip: I have a feeling I was in a recently updated and very large room, might be worth checking if your ro...

It is always interesting to read peoples reviews and we have based a lot of our new branding around these. One of our key slogans is 'The Alverton, our secret in the city.'
