“Lovely stay !!!”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

We recently stayed one night at the Truro Lodge.Absolutely loved the character of the house and the hosts Rob and Moyra were most welcoming and friendly. We had booked the family room for three of us but Rob very kindly offered my daughter the single room next door that was empty. Will definitely highly recommend the lodge as somewhere great to stay in Truro.

This is definitely the most relaxing, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing B&B I know. Rooms are warm and cosy, linen spotless, beds comfortable and the house itself delightful. I particularly value the informality of being able to help myself to tea in the kitchen, heat up a meal if necessary, and sit at the big kitchen table next to the Aga connected to wi-fi. Not having en suite bathrooms is made up for by the charm of the huge bathroom with its free-standing bath. It's always pristine and I've never had to queue to use it - there is a large shower room too. Truro Lodge feels like a real oasis and its owners are consistently warm and helpful. I look forward to using the delightful verandah and courtyard when the weather warms up.

Room Tip: All the rooms I've stayed in have been quiet and comfortable

Hosts were friendly, and it's quirky and in a good location (although you do have to walk through underpass, so not good if on your own at night). Most worrying was that I came away with bites on my legs, so not sure how clean bedding was...! Room was ok, bit grubby, more hostel-standard than B&B.

We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. The room you were in was decorated two years ago, and was cleaned before your arrival, with fresh clean bed linen. The mattress was new last year. The house is 160 years old, and although we clean every day, it does show it's age. But nobody has ever described it as 'grubby', people have said 'shabby chic' but other reviews here have said how clean the house is.

We are shocked to hear that you were bitten. We do have a cat, and although he is regularly 'de-flead' and kept out of the guest rooms, we assume he must be the sorce of the problem. We have sprayed him, and the whole house. We apologise unreservedly. We do wish that you had mentioned it when you were here, firstly so that we could have apologised to you in person, and secondly if we had been made aware of the problem we would have dealt with it sooner.

We are a 4 minute walk from the town centre. It is not necessary to use the underpass at night, the main road is not busy in the evenings, and there are traffic lights at the roundabout to aid crossing. In any event Truro is a safe City, with very little recorded crime.

Once again we're sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay.

The hospitality is second to none at this characterful B & B. I loved the ability to be able to cook my own meals on the aga in the evening and enjoyed many a chat with other guests in the kitchen. I found the place warm and relaxing and the hosts Rob and Moyra really make you feel at home. I also loved the warm feeling of the building. The place is situated within easy walking distance of the town centre. All in all I can't recommend this B & B highly enough and will definitely stay there on my next visit to Truro.

Let me start by saying I would definitely stay at Truro Lodge again, and if it meets your needs, you won't regret staying here either.

First the cons: it's a grade II listed building that's a family home with 5 rooms available, None are en-suite though there are 2 large bathrooms. The decor is below what you'd expect in a modern B&B. There's no cooked breakfast, it's help yourself to toast and cereal. The windows are single glazed only.

Pros: It's in a great location 5 minutes walk from Truro town centre. Rob (ex Mayor of Truro) is a delightful host and well worth talking the time to talk to. You have full use of the kitchen if you wish it, and some fridge space. It's cheap!

If you want a slightly quirky and interesting place to stay that's very good value for money, Truro Lodge won't disappoint.

This place is not a true B&B in that you make your own breakfast, including the "washing up." We had a triple for one night which was quiet and comfortable but NOT ensuite. There are 2 very old bathrooms that were very adequate. Good Wifi. Close to town with an easy walk. Old quirky place. You make your own breakfast which is basically toast and cereal, and your own beverage. You are welcome to make eggs if you know how to work the Aga. Rob was interesting to talk to. Former Mayor of Truro.

Certainly nothing but praise for this character b&b. Received a warm welcome and was impressed with the spacious and clean room. The b&b is located a few minutes walk from the centre. No hesitation in recommending this accommodation based on value for money.
