After cycling from Lands End, Chycara was a welcome sight. In a perfect setting the immaculate house is welcoming and comfortable. on arrival I was offered tea/coffee which was certainly needed. After checking into my room David brought my pot of tea (and a cookie) to the guest lounge. The room was spottlesly clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, perfectly cooked with local ingredients. I really can't think of any faults or any way David and Linda could improve on the welcome / service I recieved.

Brilliant!
Lovely house and idyllic woodland setting ff some 17 acres.
Friendly attentive hosts, David and Linda, nothing too much trouble.
Super breakfasts, with many choices cooked to order by mine hosts.
A great place to relax, stroll round the superb garden, swim in the heated indoor pool or play some tennis, huge bonuses compared with average B&B, yet double room rates are extremely competitive.
Rooms comfortable and clean, not extra large, though there is a beautiful lounge for B&B guests to relax in.
For family holidays two superbly fitted lodges (better than our house!) are available.

This is a really quiet tranquil place, a bit off the beaten track, so a car is probably essential unless you are prepared to stay put - which is no hardship.

The only problem with recommending this place is that it gets fully booked too quickly and then we cant get in!!

Brilliant, pretty nigh faultless.

We spent 2 wonderful days at Chycara House. Linda and David are perfect hosts who made our stay everything we could hope it to be! The location is stunning and the house itself seems to be full of character which is reflected in the owner's personalities.

We live only a mile or two from Chycara and discovered it a couple of years ago, since when a number of family and friends have stayed with Linda & David and at the end of July our daughter's wedding reception took place there. Several couples who've come down to visit us have stayed at Chycara when we've been unable to put them up and my wife's quite extensive family stayed there in the lodge last Christmas. The feedback we've had from friends & family who have stayed there has been universally full of praise - in fact my wife's parents like staying at Chycara so much that they now generally stay there in preference to staying with us (& our hospitality is really not that bad)!
As a place to stay, the other reviews here say everything there is to be said and would be entirely backed up by the various guests we've directed there but, as Chycara is really just starting out down the road of staging wedding receptions, we thought some feedback specifically on the reception might be helpful.

The wedding & reception could not have gone better: the guests all loved the setting with the beautiful gardens, stream & ponds and pool & tennis court for the kids. The tables and benches scattered around the lawns and under the trees gave the whole thing a lovely tranquil and relaxed feel and there is a nice new marquee which David & Linda own and fitted up for the formal bits and eating, together with a mess tent for the caterers. And it was all done at a cost that was more than reasonable - especially given the time and personal attention to detail that David & Linda provided - so much so that I suggested to David that they could charge more another time and still be very competitive!
There are just a couple of caveats which would apply if they are to become more regular wedding reception hosts. My daughter went for a relatively small and low key wedding with just over 60 guests and the marquee was perfect for this number but would struggle to accomodate more than 80 I would think & parking would also be limited for larger numbers than this (though the grounds themselves would easily fit more). There was only one loo and even for 60 this was a bit tight, so either a second loo would need to be available or a portaloo or two hired. We were also very lucky with the weather & the setting in the sunshine of the day under the shade of the trees was absolutely gorgeous but, if it were to rain (this is Cornwall we're talking about), some thought might need to be given as to how the marquee and lodge could be best combined to offer more space and alternative areas, which might mean opening up more of the lodge to the reception?
Those things said - and they are easily put right I think - every one of us thought it was as nice a wedding reception as we could remember (and I thought the setting and atmosphere were far nicer than any hotel based receptions we've been to). The bride & groom will take away very very happy memories from the day. They were able to finish the evening by strolling across the lawn and falling into one of Chycara's very comfortable beds ( though not before the groom had fallen into one of Chycara's very pretty streams!). Thank you Linda and David.

We have just spent 2 nights at Chycara house and enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing time in a fabulous location with superb hosts. Linda and David were the perfect hosts of a beautiful b&b set just a few miles outside Truro. The grounds extend for several acres and had the weather been a little kinder we would certainly have spent a few hours walking around. They have an indoor swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi all of which were immaculate, and an assortment of beauty treatments, massages etc available for a small charge. The breakfasts we had were just right with plenty of choices. It was just a shame to have to go home! We will definately be going back again.
