We stayed at Lopesan Meloneras from 29th November to 9th December 2018. We had a standard room with pool/garden view and it was adequate and clean. Lovely sea view from balcony also. We had an issue with the toilet during our stay but this was quickly and efficiently dealt with. The hotel grounds are just beautiful and spotless, grounds staff work around the clock to keep it this way, and its immaculate. Staff were friendly and eager to please. All the hotel pools were lovely to swim in, although the infinity pool was rather cold!!! The outside terrace was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. In the evening there was always first class entertainment, very loud though so take note that the hotel is noisy until around 11pm. Our only disappointment was the restaurants, we used the two buffet restaurants and the food was not what we had expected for the price we paid, quite a choice of dishes but most of the hot food on display was cold and this was the case every evening we were there, the same applied at breakfast when hot food just wasnt hot, I wouldnt say this was acceptable for a 5 star establishment and it spoiled our experience of this otherwise beautiful hotel, a treat for my 60th birthday

Room tip: Choose a room further away from main reception and terrace area to avoid night noise

Be prepared to put some mileage in when getting around this hotel. Staff well trained and efficient. We had B&B so only breakfast which was varied and plentiful.
The room was a decent size with marble tiles and a balcony. Good views of the lighthouse, palm trees and the sea. The grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained. Sun loungers are arranged amongst the trees and some near the shore for those wanting no shade (gets full early here). Nice pools. The huge lagoon is spectacular and blooming freezing! Other pools had a slightly warmer temperature but I didn’t try them. Activities for kids and adults and excellent quality entertainment every evening outside (take a warm layer in the winter months as it gets chilly after sunset).
There is no kettle or coffeemaker in the room.
The hotel is handy for the restaurants along the coastal strip.
There’s a small supermarket and pharmacy in the hotel - as well as boutiques etc.
Annoyances: the hotel car park costs €19 per day!!!!! It saves a walk however and street parking is limited. There is an underground car park nearby at only €16 per day!!! Wi-fi and safe in the room is chargeable too. There’s a free Wi-fi area in the bar near reception but it is slow.
Reception is always busy so you often have to queue for a simple request.
Having said all that we had a great week and would go back.

On arrival .... grounds, hotel, staff all fantastic ... but we came away for 8 days of winter sun ... yet trying to find the sun with only clear blue skies seemed difficult. The ground are covered in palm trees which are beautiful but the grounds are totally shaded . We ate in the buffet 5 out of the 8 days was ok ... the rooms are better than what most people have said are dated ... maybe we had a good one ... we ate in the el chirucco which in the magazine is a restaurant of the hotel,or appears to be ... if ur half board then you only pay a £20 Euro supplement per head plus drinks total bill was 120 euros for a Very average meal and we put this on the room ... yet when we checked out I was told that restaurant wasn’t included in there gourmet range of restaurants, yet when I was in the restaurant was told it was. Drinks are gd value ... prob if I returned I’d come for a B and B rate ... restaurant round the corner called “time” is superb ! Would I return prob not to this hotel but maybe the sister hotel Along the promenade .

Well this was my first time to Gran Canaria and I must say I've fallen in love. This is a huge property ( 1100+ rooms ) but we never felt like just another guest. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and attentive. The lobby is massive and leads to a lounging area with waiter service, reflecting pools with fountains and a stage with live entertainment and band every night. We were lucky enough to catch a Cirque de Soleil-esque musical number one evening. It was delightful.

It felt like a great adventure getting to our rooms initially but once we figured out the color coding we were a-okay. We loved that each section of rooms had its own courtyard with palm tress and art.

We had the opportunity to experience dining at Ladon ( Shout out to Tino who served us at Ladon when we first arrived and remembered us when he saw us later on during our stay. I can only imagine how many people he sees in a day. We were very impressed. ) for sandwiches, Alameda & Atlantico for buffet dining. The two buffet dining rooms offer the same food ( the grill stations are the best: octopus, sea bass, salmon, petite filets ) but Atlantico has an outdoor seating area that was the perfect spot for breakfast. Ladon is located near a pool and is a bustling cafe type experience. *Point of note: The buffets only serve breakfast which ends at 11am and dinner which begins at 4pm. You will have to find lunch elsewhere in the hotel but there are several options.

The rooms are nicely appointed with spacious bathrooms including a separate bathtub and shower stall. Designed with marble and mahogany colored wood, it is a rich decor. I never needed to turn on the air conditioner while I was there. I just opened the doors to the balcony and the ocean breezes lulled me to sleep.

We weren't there long enough to experience all this resort has to offer like the many pools and assorted spa treatments or the alternative dining options. Clearly we will have to come back to rectify that issue.

We truly enjoyed the hospitality of all the staff at Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino.

Room tip: Ocean view rooms on a higher floor are spectacular.
