Loved it, great place, lovely food. Weather was great too. Would go back. Nothing to do around the area it's a bit in the middle of nowhere , but if you want a relaxing time by a lovely pool, then this is for you.

Room Tip: Lots of pools to choose from! Go full board, the food is great.

This hotel does stand out , Booking in was fine .we were staying for 2 weeks . over this time food was ok but lots of things repeated , staff are brilliant and make the hotel ,very clean . management hide away and are never available and never seen .Sun loungers are a big big big problem most are in the shade so everyone puts towels on the good ones as early as 6am pity they have not got better things to do .lots have towels on but never a body . hotel is not bothered at all ,lots of people complained but nothing done .all the seating in the hotel is so uncomfortable and needs burning and replacing ,the best place to sit was the toilet and I am not joking .Drink prices are reasonable ,Iwould not want to stay at this hotel again especially in the busy season .this is a 3 to 4 star hotel but with new management and new seating everywhere could be the best on the island , I hope the owners read this and would be happy to advise them on what needs to be done so everyone writes nothing but good reviews on tripadvisor

This hotel certainly has the "different factor" and is fantastically themed on an African lodge but with all the mod cons!!Jungle noises and leafy tracks abound everywhere. We visited late November when the hotel was fairly quiet but I but I would imagine it would be a little different peak season.
Arrival was smooth and our cases were whipped away as they came off the coach and arrived in our room just a few minutes after we did!Reception check in was friendly and efficient .
Our room was fantastic on the top 4th floor at the front of the hotel with a view from the large balcony to the hills on the right, the sea to the left, and some other hotels in front (beautifully illuminated at night )
As you enter the room your large sink area is on the right with a seperate toilet to the right of that, with the bathroom on the left.,which contained the largest double bath ive seen,a wet room shower with a large rain shower and an additional hand shower, all soaps and gel was provided along with comfy bath robes..The rest of the room consisted of 2 twin beds pushed together.a large leather settee.coffee table,tv,work desk and chair plenty of wardrobe and hanging space and plenty of drawer space.ample hangers were also provided along with a built in shoe rack. There is a safe (2.5 euros a day ) and a mini bar which they have no objection to you emptying and stocking with your own drinks.( be aware that the 2 bottles of water in your room on arrival are part of your mini bar stock )
The restaurant serves wonderful food!! breakfast is a vast spread of hot/cold food anything you could want for breakfast is here!!
Dinner is the same with hot/ cold starters themed nights and every night there are 2 areas where at 1 the chef cooks you a choice of 2 fresh fish and at the other is the grill meat, chicken steaks etc. there is also a carvery/roast of the day carved for you and I have to say the quality of the meat is excellent! In between all this you have your prepared dishes casseroles, currys etc plus pasta,veg/potatoes etc.If I had to be a little critical I would say that these dishes could be served a little warmer.
There are 2 restaurants, and the timing of them is that there is always at least 1 of them open from 6 to 10 and at no time did we ever have to queue. We prefered the layout of the main restaurant as it had several smaller sections so you felt more like eating in a private restaurant. There is also an outside terrace where we enjoyed having breakfast As you arrive at the restaurant you are always greeted and asked where you would like to sit and then escorted to your table having picked up your complimentary glass of bubbly on the way in!!!
There are 9 pools including 2 quiet hidden ones round the front of the hotel and the central circular infinity pool by the main bars is heated to bath water temperature!!
There was never a problem with sunbeds any time of the day and pool towels are provided in your room on arrival plus a very handy pool/beach bag.
The entertainment was again very good with profesional shows starting prompt at 9 0 clock ranging from singers acrobats, jugglers Lord of the dance show and tribute groups doing Queen and the best show ive seen in a holiday hotel the Supremes we were all rocking!!
Overall a fantastic holiday in a superb hotel in a lovely upmarket resort and would I return? you bet i would!!!

Room Tip: High floors have best views, front rooms get late sun, rear rooms morning sun, if you dont like a wal...

Reading previous guests reviews i was a bit warey of the place! But once I was there I couldn't see where the complaints where coming from! On arrival we were greeted with a cocktail which was lovely! Bedrooms were spacious and clean! People that have commented about kettles in the room...we asked at reception for one and they had no problem with it! Few minutes later a kettle and mugs were bought into the room! Breakfast was 5* quality! There was everything you could think of there!! The grounds were amazing! Every pool was clean...plenty of sun beds to be had...bar staff were more than helpful and very friendly! We ate lunch at the resort....my mother has a spacific no gluten diet...we were gob smacked with how helpful all kitchen staff and waiters were! They were quick to fetch out special bread and happy to read through the menu with her explaining what she could and couldn't have. It was great as my mother sometimes feels awkward asking and they made her feel really comfortable! Location was also great...about 20 minute stroll to the beach front! If I had to leave one bad point it would have to be the Wi-Fi. The free Wi-Fi was a bit slow, so we bought it for the room instead which was €40 for the week...started off good..but 3rd day in we kept getting disconnected every few minutes, then it would switch off for an hour or so :/. This could have been resolved if we reported it to the reception staff...but we didn't bother to mention as our use of the internet wasn't for anything important! But overall the 1 bad reason didn't spoil our holiday at all! I highly recommend the place! We went as a family of 4 wanting to relax...and that is exactly what we did! Thoroughly enjoyed the week! The building itself is beautiful... Everything looks of the best quality, and thought about thoroughly! Highly recommended! We will 100% be back next year!

We were't sure what to expect after reading the mixed reviews.
However we had a good holiday and the earlier reservations were not warranted.
We went the third week of November. The hotel was not full, although there were plenty of guests so it certainly didn't feel empty.
The African theme to the resort is refreshingly different, and it's somewhat surreal walking down to dinner past the Zebras, and other "wildlife"
There are two main restaurants to choose from in which to eat your included breakfast and dinner. We preferred the Marula restaurant, in our opinion the service and staff were better here. The food choices were good and varied. There were no large queues for food when we were there. The only problem in our opinion was that smoking was allowed on the outside eating area of the restaurant., guests came out of the inside area and stood around on the outside restaurant decking smoking whilst others were eating.
There were loads of empty sunbeds when we were there. The pools were lovely to sit around and clean. There is waiter service round the pool if you want a drink or a snack.
The whole site /rooms was clean and tidy.
I would recommend that you take a travel kettle with you as there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
The rooms are lovely and large. The balconies are a good size .
We found the bed comfortable, the double was two beds pushed together, but didn't cause any problems. Other reviews with complaints about hard beds are probably influenced by personal preference, we found they were fine.
We went to the entertainment on 3 of the evenings, it was of a reasonable standard for hotel entertainment and enjoyable.
The free internet is slow, we tended to wander down to Maximilian's cafe on the promenade where free wifi is available for customers.
Go ahead and book your holiday, and have a great time. Maybe worth avoiding the busiest weeks if you want to get a sunbed. Good value out of high season.
A great atmosphere around the complex, with some mood music and theme sounds playing.

Our second visit to the Baobab was as fab as the first last year. Luxury bathrooms, amazing swimming pools, large rooms, lovely food, out door eating on the decking, beautiful palms and plants all rounds, great customer service from alll staff. Really is a relaxing holiday. We love cocktails in the Richard Burton bar after dinner and a stroll around the local area of Melonares, If you are wondering whether to book here - do it!

My only minor critcism would be that they shouldn't allow smoking in the outside area of the restaurant - but obviously that's my personal view.

Room Tip: The higher the better

Famous Maspalomas lighthouse is situated nearby, as well as the long coastside promenade. ExpoMeloneras Convention Centre is also located only a few steps away from the hotel. General description Five-star hotel Lopesan Baobab Resort has become one of the preferred destinations for family holidays of Spanish national tourists. Thanks to the uniqueness of its architecture inspired by the African continent, its impressive water landscapes with pools, rivers and waterfalls, as well as the high quality services offered, this hotel shows off ethnic charm, modernity and refinement. The hotel’s main entrance leads guests over a picturesque wooden bridge to the reception area, passing a grandiose aquatic landscape with waterfalls. From the lobby you can reach the hotel rooms or the large garden area, on a surface of 56,000 square metres, in the centre of which a large 21 metres high wooden African lodge is located; this lodge houses a restaurant and a bar. Common areas are connected by an extensive sheet of water crisscrossed by small bridges. In total there are nine swimming pools (all of them heatable at different temperatures) covering a total surface of 4,245 square metres. Specially outstanding are: the “lazy river”, two artificial beaches, pools with waterfalls and caves, the “chocolate” pool (the name of which refers to its brown colour) and the “two palm trees” pool, as well as a pool with water attractions for children and babies. The hotel’s leisure and recreation areas are enriched even more by a complete entertainment programme with a variety of activities during the day and in the evenings. Materials used for the hotel’s interior decoration and design were carefully chosen searching the appropriate item for every single corner of the hotel complex. On the walls of the hotel’s buffet restaurants guests will appreciate layers of natural coconut and wooden bricks, as well as French porcelain stoneware on the floors of the pool areas. Regarding the hotel rooms an exquisite finishing with high-quality woodwork and sound insulation was chosen. Other materials which can be found around the hotel are dry bamboo, die-cut steel or coloured mortar with added shredded straw to simulate adobe. Rooms The rooms’ interior design carefully combines colour schemes and African ambience. The Lopesan Baobab was built on a plot of 72,000 square metres with a total of 522 standard double rooms, 8 of them modified for guests with limited mobility and 17 deluxe double rooms with pool, perfect for guests looking for privacy, romanticism and/or relaxation; there are also 55 family doubles and 15 family doubles with direct access to the “chocolate” and the “two palm trees” pools, as well as 8 superior double rooms, 40 junior suites, 20 senior suites and 1 royal suite. There is no doubt that the hotel’s different room categories can meet any requirement or need guests may have, since they can choose from comfortable standard rooms, spacious family rooms, luxury rooms or magnificent suites for young and old. All rooms offer excellent views which vary depending on their location, as for example beautiful panoramic views on the dunes, on the nearby palm oasis, on the hotel’s garden area or the island’s mountain landscape. Gastronomy The Lopesan Baobab Resort offers high quality cuisine in all restaurants, characterized by an elevated level of creativity. For this purpose the hotel’s select kitchen staff puts special emphasis on using the best products and on preparing them in presence of the hotel guests. The ‘Akara’ Restaurant is only open for dinner and its name refers to an African recipe; it offers flavours from the very heart of Africa with a menu committed to originality. The hotel’s second a la carte restaurant is the ‘Pili Pili’ Restaurant, open at lunchtime and specialised in paellas, seafood and grilled meat. Furthermore, there are two buffet restaurants, the ’Marula’ and the ‘Baobab’, the premises of which are conveniently separated to provide differentiated atmospheres where delicacies from international occidental cuisine are served. The restaurants’ wine cellar provides an excellent selection of the finest wines from around the world as a complement to the great gastronomic offer. The hotel also hosts five bars, two of them located in the pool areas; Henry Stanley bar and Mungo Park Bar complete the resort’s restaurant and bar options. Leisure and sports activities The hotel has at its guests’ disposal a complete and varied entertainment programme, offering something for everybody. Many of the organised activities take place during the day and in the evenings, when it’s just the right time to have a drink or enjoy professional shows on the hotel’s outdoor plaza, on a specially designed stage, next to the magnificent African lodge. Furthermore the resort offers a fully-equipped gym and a varied wellness programme, as well as other activities for sports fans. For golf fans the golf courses of Meloneras Golf and Maspalomas Golf are available and a free bus shuttle service to these golf courses is provided by the hotel. For the little hotel guests fun is guaranteed at the hotel’s Panchi World Mini-Club with a stage and two pools for children, one of them with a water-slide. The Lopesan Baobab Resort also houses specially equipped rooms for conferences, conventions and events with highly functional and stylish facilities which can be easily modified and adapted to hold particular events. The hotel’s large panoramic ‘Karisimbi’ room is specially outstanding with a size of 1,002 square metres and a capacity for 800 persons, the perfect choice for any kind of celebration, conference or event.
