Nice hotel. Had a good stay there. The landscape and pool area is great. However I wish they would reduce the extensive use of plastic in the Pool area or at least use reusable cups etc. This is not very eco friendly and doesn’t live up to a 5 star standard

Stayed here at end of March and was from the reviews expecting an exceptional hotel but we were disappointed and did feel that it fell short of the many 5* hotels we have stayed in. Will list good and bad points below .
Good points
Excellent location on sea front. You can walk along the promenade to the shops or in the other direction to Melonaras beach and the nice restaurants there. All the sitting areas and communal spaces are well appointed and quite luxurious . Staff very pleasant and service very good.
Excellent entertainment in the evening.
Bedrooms large with nice walk in wardrobe.
Have good system with electronic keys cards to charge things to your room.
Drinks and food we bought at lunchtime very reasonably priced and of good quality .
Strict about the reserving of sun beds ( saw people’s towels and belongings being carted away) , that will be really important at busy times.
Negatives
Dining room is a huge cafeteria so after night one we gave the half board a miss ( we had paid for this option) . It was horrendous as people are walking backwards and forwards to the buffet all the time. The buffet is not all in one place which adds to the general backwards and forwards They have two sittings so you can’t eat when you want to. We are not normally sniffy about a buffet but on this huge scale it was not relaxing . Quality of food that we saw was average. It was the same at breakfast but more bearable and you could at least go in when you wanted but would imagine when it’s full could be challenging
Bedrooms surprisingly lacked a kettle, slippers and a iron. Little things but would have expected them in room of a 5* hotel.
We have never been to a 5* hotel before where you check in, get given a map and told to find your room. The hotel is huge so it’s takes a bit of finding .
They are ferocious about charging for water. 2.2 euros for small bottle. One free bottle in room on arrival. They also charge extra for WiFi ( 2 euros per day )and using the safe ( 21 euros for a week) in your room , again to me just basics for a good quality hotel.
The pool bars don’t open until 11.00 so impossible to get water before then . There is no pool service , you have to go to bar.
There was lots of sun beds but when we were there it was nowhere near full occupancy, would imagine at height of season when’s it’s full it could be a different story.

Would say good hotel compared to what’s around it but if you are used to staying in 5* hotels it’s not quite at that standard

Website had a 40% discount so booked a UNIQUE Senior Suite: huge room and balcony, very nice, although with more like a "partial" sea view. The experience was good, but not as special as some other high end hotels. Nice to get freebies (beer, cake, airport transfer, spa treatment) but possibly not worth the extra money for the UNIQUE experience. We still had a lovely, relaxing stay though.

A few other comments:
Very well designed common spaces and variety of buildings - didn't feel like a big resort hotel.
Beautiful pool area with big main pool (60m+).
UNIQUE breakfast was good, although cold meats/cheese/fruit/etc better than cooked offerings.
Large, well-equipped gym.
Very good spa facilities.
Easy walk to a lot of "resort" restaurants along the seafront, but trickier to walk to anything more "local". We had one lunch in the hotel, which was fairly mediocre.

This was our first trip to Gran Canaria and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was superb, I was sceptical as it was buffet restaurant but the standard of food was superb - excellent choices for all diets. Rooms were clean and spacious. Excellent fitness classes and friendly helpful staff. We will definitely look to return or try another Lopesan

Room tip: We would have liked to see Tea and Coffee making facilities and a proper fridge. We did feel that the safe should come free of charge
