First time to the area - in fact first time to Gran Canaria.
The hotel was well laid out with many rooms in several blocks but the atmosphere of spacious small European village. The grounds were well kept with many tropical plants and trees that added to the overall experience.
Excellent buffet breakfast with much choice.
Disappointing for a 5star hotel was the need to charge for the room safe! and charging for room WiFi.
The bathroom towels and toilet paper well below 5star standards.

Villa del Conde is a iconic hotel. My first residence was a precious gift for an anniversary..
One never can forget this. The idea of this hotel is the reconstruction of a former convent.
Where ever in the hotel you are overwhelmed with luxury, abondance and good feeling.
This is Kingsize holidays.

A frequent visitor to this area I thought I would give this hotel a try.A large resort more like a small village with apartment buildings placed around several pools. The main square houses the restaurants, bars and seating areas.
On arrival outside your hotel your luggage is taken from you for delivery to your room giving you time to check in and receive your all important map of the grounds. After 45 mins and no luggage I went in search of it to find it where It was left and unattended and available to anyone who cared to take it.Unlike some of the other hotels in this area there is no security at the main gate to stop non guests just walking in,
After complaining about this incident I did receive an apology but was not convinced any action would be taken to ensure other travellers didn't have this happen to them.

I had a ground floor double room overlooking one of the small pools. Some of the rooms above me will have had their view obscured by the palm trees. The room was clean and spacious with a good sized bathroom which had a walk in shower (small step into it) and a large tub.Bath robe provided but no slippers.

Like other reviewers I found the air con minimum of 22 degrees inadequate particularly at night.Opening the patio door was an option but as I was on the ground floor dismissed this option.I was given to understand that this hotel has brought this is in to save energy, not anything to do with local law.

Restaurant had a large and varied menu with breakfast providing complimentary water and fizzy wine.Staff polite and attentive which as a solo female traveller I appreciate.

For those guests with mobility problems all the pathways are flat with lifts where necessary.A disability toilet is located near the main pool and 2 pools had lift in/out chairs if you were unable to use the steps.

Presumably allocated 5 stars by virtue of it's amenities, service, large grounds and luxurious reception but I only wish to give a 4 rating .To have air con regulated in a hotel of this standard is unacceptable and the fiasco over the luggage doesn't help.

Room tip: Away from main square and evening entertainment

We have never stayed at a Lopesan resort before, so this holiday was a real eye-opener. The quality hits you immediately as you enter the grand reception area, modelled in an ancient Roman architectural style. The welcome and service provided by the staff was first class. We chose the half board option and were not disappointed, as there were maybe 10 serving tables throughout the restaurant that offered a fantastic choice of food at both breakfast and dinner. The gardens are expansive with several choices of swimming pool areas, and plenty of sunloungers for all.

The hotel is perfectly situated in the modern resort of Costa Meloneras.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and hope to return one day soon.
