What can I say fantastic from when we arrived to when we left

Check in at the hotel was seamless, all staff very amazing.
Beautiful spotless hotel.

Had an issue with a lost bracelet, which was completely our fault, which was returned to us, proper 5 star service.

Breakfast was superb, one of the best, really friendly staff, excellent wide range of fresh food, every thing you could think of from avocados to sparking cold carve.

Location of the hotel is excellent.

Would return in a heartbeat

Just back from a week’s stay at this hotel, where we found a very friendly and efficient staff. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was always of a high standard with lots of choice.

The grounds are extensive and spread over a wide area and we had no trouble whatsoever finding sunbeds that were empty – no need to put a towel on them in the morning! The pools were of various sizes and depths so there should be something to please everyone.

The hotel claims to be a five star, but by English standards I would say it’s no better than a very good three star.

When we checked in we were told that the third floor was being upgraded, and because of any inconvenience we would be given free Wi-Fi in the room, and free use of the safe. This surprised me as we have been to many hotels, some of them classed as budget hotels, and they give Wi-Fi and safe free of charge, so it was no big deal to get these wonderful compensations!!!

On reaching our room we found this to be a disappointment, especially the bathroom area. The toilet rolls with very thin and of poor quality as were the bathroom towels - cheap and well worn plain white. Again no better or perhaps even worse than a budget hotel, really not good enough for a so-called five star hotel.

The soaps were in squeezy bottles on the wall, which I personally do not like and I found the one in the bathroom to be at the opposite end and very difficult to operate effectively at this distance.

The main room had only a couple of electric points which in these days of gadgets and phones is nowhere near good enough.

In the corridor outside the room wallpaper was dirty and peeling away, and obviously in need of replacing as it looked like it hadn’t been done since the hotel was built.

As the hotel was such a large one across a big area that were signposts but these were not very effective and you could soon get lost as we did several times. It certainly isn’t a hotel for those with walking problems as being on the first floor we had to climb stairs as well as use lifts to get to reception.

As has been previously mentioned there is a large amount of sound seepage from rooms at the sides and above, and you can be woken much earlier than planned and also when you think you’ve just got off to sleep.

We also travelled to play on the adjacent golf course belonging to the hotel, which is reached by complimentary coach which was of a very high standard. However when we got there two of us we were charged almost £200 for a game of nine holes which included club hire and the use of trolleys. That seemed extortionate.

Reading through previous comments it seems that none of these problems are new. It’s noticeable that when people praise the hotel they are praised as well and thanked for their custom. However when anyone dares to criticise the hotel there is a standard answer that the problems will be referred to management, and nothing ever seems to change. The problems are still there!

Could it be that the replies to comments actually come from management? If so they are being very cynical and ignoring the observations and suggestions of the people who pay very large sums of money to stay at this hotel.

In conclusion would we stay at the resort again? Probably not as we found it to be quite remote.

Would we stay at the hotel again? Definitely not!

Is a pleasure to know that you were very satisfied with " very friendly and efficient staff " , the "high standard and good variety of the breakfast" as also our beautiful big pools and our sunbeds politics.

For us the most important day by day is that our customer have a brilliant stay and enjoy a unique experience here in the Lopesan Villa del Conde.
Because of this reasons our staff tries daily their best to fulfill all wishes and needs of our guests.
We regret very much that we could not fulfill all your expectations especially in fact to the bathroom area, room and facilities as also the communal areas.
We always appreciate each comment of our guests which can help us to improve our standard and of course we will pass your comments to the referent departments in charge for possible changes and improvements in future.
Regarding you comment, that we do not listen to the comments which give us our clientes, you can see that this is not like this for example we just have changed our Bar Azotea to improve our standards to our guests.
Also one of our blocks of rooms just have been refreshed as for example walls and decorations.
It is true that our company do have a additional charge on the extras as you mentioned for example the safe and wifi, indepence to this we have noted your improvement proposal and passed it to the central of Lopesan.

We would like to inform you that the Golf Courses are independence to our Hotel.
It is true that the Golf Course of Meloneras is from the same company and because of this reasons our guests have a special discount in this Golf Course as an client of the company.
The other Golf courses are not from Lopesan but we have some special offer with them for our guests.

Nevertheless we hope you visit us in future again to demonstrate you that we always improve and work on our customer satisfaction.

Been visiting Gran Canaria for many years and always stay along that lovely bit of beach were all the lovely hotels along with the Faro shops & Restaurants, but one evening we thought we give the Plaza restaurant / buffet a try in the Villa Del Conde, we went for dinner at 6.30 walked in with a royalty reception with every one greeting you on arrival which felt special, we were shown to our table then went up to the food section, well say no more!!! one word sums it up incredible!!! is all i can say!!! fine dining at 31Euros, the food absolutely amazing even cooks in front of you as you want it !! what a place 110% can recommend this to any one, even if your not staying at the hotel your welcome to walk in as a none resident, god bless fantastic!!! will be going back!!!

We stayed here for one week in late November, in a sea view double room on a half-board basis. We enjoyed our stay. The main positives were: the friendly and attentive staff, the large room, the impressive main entrance/reception area and the above-average food for a buffet-style restaurant. There is free wifi but we found it erratic, dropping connection a lot.

On arrival our luggage was quickly extracted from our taxi and was waiting for us in our room when we arrived there. An excellent feature was the good-sized walk-in wardrobe where cases/clothes and shoes could be stored. There is a small safety deposit box here too. Registration was friendly and efficient, aided by a glass of bubbly and the huge vaulted entrance foyer was impressive. Our room was large, perhaps in need of some updating but comfortable with quiet air conditioning and very effective blackout curtains - a boon for a light sleeper. The king bed was two joined singles. The shower was powerful but the lighting in the bathroom was poor. We had a sea view which, while not the best we have had, did include some lovely sunsets. Tiled floors help keep rooms in hot places cool but they do not help keep noise down, the moving of chairs etc in nearby rooms/areas was sometimes noticeable. I suspect soundproofing between rooms is not great. There was no complimentary water in the room nor any tea/coffee making equipment (no kettle). If the mini bar charge of 2.50 is too much then mini-markets are about 10 minuses away.

The hotel grounds are extensive and very well kept. Overall we enjoyed walking round the grounds and lazing by the quiet pool. The conjoined blocks that comprise the hotel are painted in different colours (probably to disguise the size of the hotel) and we were not convinced that all resulted in a pleasing aesthetic - some of the darker colours against the concrete gave a rather dismal impression. There are several pools and areas for sun beds. We didn't use the spa - probably our mistake. When holidaying off-season there are inevitable compromises and one here was that only one main restaurant was open for dinner (there were two breakfast options). We would have liked to try the only other one open, the more up-market a la carte Plaza Mayor, but could not get a satisfactory assurance that a vegetarian could be properly catered for. If you like the buffet approach (my wife does, I don't) to dining then this is one of the better ones - good variety, changing options, mostly well prepared.

Entertainment included an accomplished pianist playing a mostly classical repertoire on the white grand piano set below the reception area - a very impressive setting with the vast vaulted ceiling, rising over 5 floors, giving amazing acoustics. In the plaza outside, there was nightly entertainment with a resident house band and other acts. The Queen tribute night was great fun.

Our tour company had advised us - after we had booked - that some upgrading work was being carried out but that the hotel would ensure our room was away from any disturbance. While this was largely the case we did find that one of the main corridors leading to our room was progressively a problem, lamps exposed, sockets disconnected, walls stripped and recovered, floor tiles removed. Had the problems all been there at the start we would have asked to be moved but it was only over the last day or two that we were sufficiently irked to complain. We received a small reduction on our bar/wine bill by ay of compensation.

This Lopesan is further away from the town area, beach and the associated bars, cafes and restaurants. There is another Lopesan, and a number of other hotels, nearer. We found it took about 15 minuses to walk along the promenade to the lights and the busy area. The small supermarket is however a bit nearer, perhaps 10 minutes. It is a matter of preference whether you want to be a bit away from the bustle or close to a range of amenities.

Room tip: Check re modernisation and avoid noisy areas
