Still a very nice hotel to stay in. After the years the hotel needs an update as well on the outside as on the inside, especially the furniture.
When the hotel is booked in January and February, lines appear in front of the cooking places. This does not give you the feeling of a 5*Hotel.

We stayed for a week at the Villa del Conde in January. Firstly there are some very good positives. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained, the staff very helpful and friendly. it's position on the front ideal. The food was excellent with both hot and cold counters. The hot food was cooked fresh, which did mean there was a little bit of queing and waiting for it to be cooked, but the selction was very good. The Thalasso was also very good but a bit pricey, 30 euro each for a taster session. All the pools were outdoor and very good but a bit cold in January not many people ventured in, could do with heating them a bit more. There were a few things that I think that stopped this hotel getting a fifth star. There was a charge of 2.5 euros a day to use the safe in your room and only free WiFi in the plaza area. The rooms in general were very spaciuos and clean but the real let down was the noise in the room. There seemed to be no soundproofing in the room and we were disturbed most nights with either snoring from next door or them going to the toilet and a constant clip clop of shoes from the room above. Any noise from the corridor carried right in.My tip is get a room on the top floor. It would aslo help to have a second door between the room and the corridor. There was good entertainment each evening in the Plaza and portable heaters although it did attract a lot of smoking. All in all it was pretty good

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor

This is my third visit to this hotel, which must be a fair indication that I quite like the place. There are many good things: the hotel is built in village-style with separate architecturally diverse blocks surrounding a central piazza, which has shops, restaurants and bars. Overall, the hotel has a very pleasant self-contained sort of ambience. This is an excellent idea and it is pleasurable to wander round the "village", have a beer or three in the central square or take advantage of the many very good swimming pools and the well kept grounds. The rooms are large and well appointed (however see below). The staff, by and large, are professional, friendly, helpful and efficient and a credit to the hotel. The food in the half board/breakfast restaurant is, in my view, excellent. Some attempts to stop the usual sun-bed baggers was evident but was not enforced, so, perhaps an improvement opportunity there?

On all three occasions that I have stayed here, despite previous assurances, management have completely ignored my requests to be accommodated in a certain area of the hotel. This appears to be the experience of several other reviewers.

Free WiFi in the piazza area is pretty poor, especially when many people are trying to grab some obviously very limited bandwidth.

Management continue to maintain the mean, petty and annoying practice of charging extra for the use of the safe in the room. What next? Extra charges for soap, towels and toilet roll???

The house band, who appear in the piazza most evenings, have managed to drag their music forward a decade into the late 1950s. Their schmaltzy type of music is entirely not to my taste but appears to be aimed at the mainly elderly German audience. A shame as they are competent musicians and must get thoroughly fed up with producing that waltzy, oompah-beat sort of rubbish.

Many previous reviewers have commented on the lack of sound-proofing in the rooms. Frankly, the hotel has the build-quality and sound-proofing levels of a multi-storey car park. Every noise from adjacent rooms can be heard through the walls and the incessant sound of heels clicking on the solid floor of the room above can be like Chinese water torture. If you have noisy neighbours, this can totally ruin an otherwise pleasant stay. In response to these criticisms in these columns management have been in the habit of issuing non-committal PR types of statement along the lines that they "are actively looking into ways of improving the situation". Since management have been "actively looking" for several years now one can conclude that either the management is pretty useless or, more likely, since the hotel would need to be torn down and rebuilt to a higher standard incorporating adequate sound insulation, they are planning on doing little or nothing practical to remedy the situation. It seems probable to me that, whilst occupancy remains reasonably high, management will maintain the status quo and get their PR people merely to field any complaints that arise with such anodyne and empty promises.

Being in our early 20's me and a gay couple me and my partner decided to go away for a relaxing holiday where we could be ourselves and chill out after a busy christmas. This turned out very badly. The food was of a poor standard the whole time that we were there. My partner was quite unwell for a couple of days which obviously caused us some concern. Some of the staff were incredibly rude but on the whole were extremely pleasant. Our room cleaners and the girls serving at dinner are the only thing that made the stay bearable. The other guests made us feel very unwelcome, We received lots of filthy looks as if we didn't belong there. It's not like we were a couple of booze fulled idiots. Most of the time we just laid by the pool reading or went down to dinner. Our room had wallpaper peeling off the wall above the bed which wasn't brilliant. Also the noise levels from the rooms above is dreadful. If you stay here make sure it's on the top floor. And to top everything off we weren't even asked how our stay had been. It was as if they wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible when it came to check out. However the site as a whole is quite pleasant to look at. So not all bad.

This resort is really nice, and have alot of fascillities. The staff is very proffesional, and greets you almost every time you pass them on the hotel-area. They are kind and helpful, and speaks very good English, and german. If they dont understand you, they call for help at another colleague.
We bought both the breakfast and dinner. Which both are of really high quality, wiht lots of choices. Every night, the dinner is of a new theme, Italian, International, Canarian, Mexican, Oriental... etc. So parts of the buffet will change every day, and some Things will be there day by day. We were happy to taste some of the local food at the buffet (Canarian and Spanish) We enjoyed every meal. At the breakfast, drinks are included. different coffees, fresh juice, sparkling wine, milk, etc.
In the evening, and during the day, you will have to pay for drinks, and food. I think that it's a little too expensive, water and most coffee is around 2.10-2.50 Euros.
My wife visited the Spa, and got a (Mother to be)massage. She enjoyed it, and the staff was very helpful and answered every question she had, she felt in good hands.
We lived in a standard room, with garden view. The interior was ok, everything in nice condition and very clean. In my opninion the should put on carpets on the floors, it would improve the sound-level alot. You are not able to have a quiet afternoon in your room, beqause of people and staff in other room. We lived in Section F, in the back of the hotel-area, so in the night it was nice and quiet.
We visited this place in january, it wasnt crowded, and we found it very relaxing and quiet.

This is our second visit. The big pluses-- incredible food, one pool heated to 26°, strong shows every night, great band in the Plaza every night.
Restaurant service range from 3 to 5 stars except for Mustafa, who was definitely a six or seven star waiter.in the winter I would suggest building' F because it gets more light than building G. Friendly helpful staff. On how pension you can buy two meals in their two gourmet restaurants – – one is Italian, the other continental. You must buy two nights at €18 per night per person. The Italian restaurant was very romantic and the food was good. The other restaurant was light and the atmosphere was of a high Michelin quality. However this Caesar salad ordered was the second worst I've ever had. The worst being at Caesars hotel in Tiajuana. it seems that chefs around the world have improved on the basic dressing by adding eggs, Worcestershire sauce, cheese and other ingredients. I thought that the chef here thought that the Caesar salad was only extra croutons. when I think Caesar salad, I think "dressing." The lamb was tasty, all five bites. the desert however was unbelievably delicious. It was the mousse. if I were doing it again I would take two nights in the Italian restaurant.

Room Tip: Get one near the pool you want to settle by.

Can't understand why the previous reviewer would lambast what is probably one of the nicest hotels on this island as our experience was totally the opposite .If you pay for 4/5 star you expect to incur costs for certain extra's such as bottled mineral water and pool towels. We were fine with this as we felt it all went to ensure the experience was as we had expected - 4 star +. We have already booked the Lopesan for July 2014 without hesitation given as our experience was so positive here. Very cool and modern hotel which although being 4 star + is still very family orientated with a focus on cleanliness , staff friendliness and some of the most extensive buffet offerings i have yet to see in any hotel on the planet. If you're a vegetarian you will be amazed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel which faces onto the beautiful sea front and promenade
