“A beautiful stretch of coastline”

Shoebury East Beach
Certificate of Excellence
Attraction details
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

The most beautiful beach along the Southend on sea coastline. Unspoilt views. No noisy rides or fruit machines. No fancy lights to make it more attractive. It needs no gimmicks with its breathtaking views.

Yes you pay for parking, but you do at many other parks such as Maldon Park.

One of the reviews spoke about Uncle Tom's Cabin cafe but that's at Shoebury Common Beach, not here at East Beach.

Dogs can go on the beach itself, except from May to September. But they can enjoy the surrounding park area all year round.

Nearby in the High Street are a couple of corner shops, a bakers (Denis the baker) and a restaurant (Shoeburyness Hotel). And in nearby Ness Road there's a Wimpy, Dominos pizza and some other cafes.

It can get very busy during the summer holidays. But why wait until the summer to visit. It's a great place to get some fresh air, a stretch of the legs and sea views.

As a local to southend we always find East Beach large with good services (and plenty of nearby shops). Its a great place to take bring the kids, perhaps the dog to and sit on the grass and have a picnic. The beach is large an open and always very clean. Overall if your local you can't go wrong here.

Absolutely love wasting an hour or two walking along the beach with the kids, picking up shells and throwing stones into the water. I prefer to go on a cold, cloud free day when the tide is out as you can walk out on the mud flats and lift rocks looking for creatures.

It is a real shame that the main parking area is Pay and Display. However, if you approach it from Blackgate road then there is free parking allowed on the road and even a few official spaces that you don't need to pay for.

Great place to visit for the kids, good parking, beach, just what the doctor ordered. Great walks along the front and easy reach of local hostelries. Good viewsa across the estuary to Kent.

A quieter clean blue flag beach at the East End of Southend, with a large Common & good easy car parking facilities. Great place for family picnicks & old fashion fun. Uncle Tom's cabin provides food & beverages with shop that sells all beach requirements. Disabled access to the beach. Great walks through the MOD land to East Beach. Popular place for wind surfers & jet ski's. Great place to walk out on the mud when the tide is out. Beach huts on the promenade. Toilets on the common. Coastguards look-out adjacent. Great views & some of the best sunsets we have seen.
