Stayed there one night for business. I believe the offer on pool, gym is very good but when it comes to the Hotel itself, it was lacking. The carpets on some floors are in a bad state and poorely repaired. Also the room was in urgent need of upgrade/refurb. The bath is dated too, especially the bath tub with shower screen misses it's purpose. Main problem are the single glazed windows where water was running down the glass and caused curtains to show moulding stains. And smaller issues which made the stay a hassle, i.e. no remote for TV, no Internet cable. A real issue was the quality of the bed which was so wobbly that it was difficult to fall asleep. I will probably stay there again as the location is perfect for me when doing business, however, I struggle to recommend regardlessly.

Public areas have been updated and look very modern, when entering your room it's like going back 20 years!!
The rooms are dirty, curtains hanging off the rail, spill marks down the wall, carpet was marked and lifting, furniture old fashioned and seen better days!
The bathroom was disgusting, mould all over the walls, dirty floor and generally tatty.
Very disappointed that De Vere have such poor room standards in this hotel.
After 4 hour journey i was too exhausted to go back to reception to complain and change room. I did inform reception who did not really care, also my colleague complained as was jsut to to fill out a feedback card!!

Room Tip: Dont choose any!!

Spa treatment lovely 1 hour full body massage three of us had this 1 had a facial all satisfied with treatments eventhough two people were having treatments in same room ok if ur good mates. The rooms were ok for one night clean sheets tea coffee could do with an update but hey was on a deal if i paid full price would be very disapointed.Evening meal well booked table for 8 when we arrived had to wait beacause table was only booked for 2 not 4 ,finally got in at 8 45 food ok but had to wait between courses finished last one at 11 too late not very good. on the otherhand breakfast lovely possibly because it was self service couldnt fault it . Stayed in the De Vere Daresbury as part of the Groupon deal. I had stayed in this hotel in 2003 and had good memories of it. I was very let down by the whole experience.

Staff were friendly and the location is a good base for nw england. However, our room was in a very poor state, large parts of paint had cracked and the plaster was visible. really outdated room. Not very romantic, which was a shame for my girlfriends bday.

Had dinner in the evening, this was the worst part of the weekend. We waiting approx 30mins to get our drinks / 1h 30 mins to get our mains and 3hrs to get our desserts. Before our desserts arrived we had left and went back to our room. We complained and the hotel staff were very sympathetic in fairness and provided us with some drinks and a partial refund.

Swimming pool and facilities were good. However, wouldnt go back.

On the website this looked like a nice place and upon arrival it still looked nice and reception were friendly. It was went wrong walking to my room... Carpet torn and repaired with gaffs rape, cheap air freshner smell and the awful feeling that the room was going to be poor.

Once in room it was very shabby, chipped corners, worn out furniture, paint peeling off walls, air freshner reek and an old saggy mattress. Asked to change room.

New key was brought to my door but had to lug all my bags on my own as girl then just walked off.

Second room marginally better, but only just.

Also no wifi except in bar.

If it was £50 I would have said I had not paid enough, but I had paid £100 and felt ripped off... Pfftt never again

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel in 17th and 18th November 2011, to attend a family funeral. The decor is very dated, the carpet outside our bedroom was stuck down with tape because it was splitting, ( health & safety hazard?). The bedrooms were a good size but the bedding was just a light duvet without a sheet underneath it. Dinner on 17th November was extremely slow and not good value for money. I had paid for two rooms for two nights when I booked our stay but when we were checking out the receptionist presented a bill to my 87 year old aunt and tried to charge another £69 x 2 for her room. The cost per room was actually £72 per night so not sure where the £69 came from. Checking in was also very slow and tortuous.

Don't expect too much of this deal. Good service but just checked the actual deal and we should have got warm scones with the deal but there was no sign of it. It's not posh by any means - just like popping down to your local cafe for a coffee & cake.
