I have just returned from a weekend away, where I had the pleasure of staying at Nomads. Linda the gracious owner, greeted us with a pitcher of Sangria and a platter of antipasti. There was tea, coffee and homemade brownies available to us at all hours, as well as a bottle of wine waiting for us when we returned from a night out. My tangerine painted room was beautiful and cozy, with a balcony overlooking the pond. The rooms are spotless, adorned with artwork and lovely curtains. Linda has thought of every amenity to ensure your comfort. From the plush bathrobes to the heavenly bed..... fire roaring in the parlour's fireplace. Breakfast consisted of delicious eggs benedict, homemade croissants, freshfruit and yogourt.....It is hard to believe how reasonable the prices are, for the attention and highest standards of quality that Linda maintains. I would drive from Toronto, just for the opportunity to stay at Nomads again!!

AS we get older, our standards go up. Rarely does accommodation impress us anymore, but this one is a positive exception. Not only is the place spotless, the service is outstanding to a point that we wonder if the proprietor can maintain such high levels. As you can see in the pictures, it is not your average roses, tea cups and flowery bed spreads, this is a boutique hotel style with a personal touch. We actually think the price is a bit too low for the service and the accommodation.

The food is fantastic, the rooms are cozy and wonderful and Linda resembles a fairy.

The B and B is kind of hard to find. It is directly on highway 7 on the north side. If you come from Ottawa, it is about 500 mtrs/yards west after Gibbs Road, right after the abandoned (?) motel with the solar panels. There is no sign along the road, other than the number 28078. Don't hit the brakes if you see it at the last moment as traffic is fast (90k/hr). Jut keep rolling for another mile or so until you see an exit to turn around.

Room Tip: We don't think there is any difference between the rooms. Being social in the living room is wha...

I cannot recommend this place enough. My partner and I stayed there because we were visiting family nearby--now we want to go back and not tell any of our family!!! Linda was incredibly friendly and generous: she even told us about all the little corners of the property when we first arrived so we could decide where to have our complimentary sangria!! The breakfasts are absolutely AMAZING, and if you decide to buy dinner while you are there, I HIGHLY recommend the bouillabaisse. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and stylish (the mattress was so comfortable I considered stealing the bed!!), and the ceiling fan did a wonderful job even though we were in the middle of a heat wave.

I'll admit that I had some hesitation: I have always felt that B&Bs are a little bit like staying in someone elses house, and I had this feeling that I would feel under an obligation to the proprietor, or like I was invading their space. Neither was the case here.

On our second night we returned late in the evening--Linda had set out a bottle of wine and glasses for us to enjoy, and left a plate of delicious cheese, meat, and fruits in the fridge!! My partner drinks tea and since the hot-water dispenser went on the fritz while we were there she made a special point of making sure that there was hot water for him.

This is a romantic, wonderful place to spend a weekend. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. From the details (the beautiful painting and quotes on the walls, the nightly fire in the fireplace) to the big things (stunning food, gracious host, and the lovely balconies attached to each room) this place was transformative. If you are in the area, go here!!! And if you are not exactly in the area, I HIGHLY recommend making a special trip.

I write a review only when the stay is outstanding. And it ABSOLUTELY is. We were six of us riding our motorcycles through the provincials parks around the lakes. We stayed there two nights in these charming and so comfortable rooms. Each of them with clean bathroom. Every corner inside and outside of this B & B is so artisticly decorated. We took the dinners offered in the menu. Linda prepared such succulent food and let us discover new taste agency. And so was the breakfast. We rent the three rooms. Linda was so discreet we were just like home. Everything, the colors, the music, the fireplace, the pound, the sangria she offered, the meals and Linda herself were and outstanding artistic experience.

En-route from Toronto to Ottawa, nested behind mature trees and in front of lovely ponds, you will find this little gem of a place. Clearly, Linda is striving for quality, not quantity, so book ahead to make sure you will be one of the few lucky ones to get a room. Start to finish, decor to food, smiles through atmosphere, everything Linda does is tasteful (in all ways!) and perfect. Linda will be your best friend from the first sangria that greets you in your balcony, through the immaculate breakfast (the 2nd "B" of "B&B"...) and of course, make sure to choose one of the lovely dinner menus this super-woman prepares. Thank you Linda, we are looking forward to our next visit!

We were first introduced to Nomads Rest last November when it hosted an open house for the community and travelers passing by. The quaint B&B, (offering three guest-rooms and a full cottage), caught our attention immediately, and had us wanting to come back to try it personally. The decor, ambiance and serenity stayed in our thoughts long afterward so just days ago, (July 30th & 31st) we returned, and spent two wonderful nights at the oasis in Ontario’s Land O’Lakes region.
Located on Provincial Highway #7 between the towns of Arden and Mountain Grove, Nomads Rest is the only accommodation that we know of in the area and was an ideal location for us to explore cottage country and Frontenac County. The area is rich with local artisans and natural beauty, and a favorite of ours in the autumn months when nature comes alive with the changing colours of the season.
So how was our stay? Absolutely amazing!
We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted warmly by the B&B’s owner Linda, a charismatic woman, who began our stay with an offering of Sangria and soft music to wind down after our long drive. Soon, we were immersed in a feeling of relaxation we had been hoping for… gone were any thoughts of work, home, and the outside world… the moment was all about us, and what we would make of our time. There were no clocks, televisions or radios which left our imaginations to be nurtured by the eclectic arrangement of Asian, Spanish, French and other World music that echoed softly throughout the B&B. We were decompressing quickly, and soon the weight of the world seemed to lift from both of us… we were at peace.
We chose the Orange & Spices Room, which was a vibrantly coloured bedroom with a private ensuite bathroom and private terrace overlooking a pond and surrounding property. We would enjoy plush feather-duvet bedding as well as rich Egyptian cotton-towels and bathrobes that only added to our spa-like experience. Our room was very clean, and we found ourselves melting away as we shed our shoes and relaxed on the ultra comfortable bed. Other areas of the B&B were just as luxurious such as the sitting parlour where Linda keeps a crackling fire in the fireplace each evening, and the dining area reminiscent of a petit cafe where coffee and baked treats are available around the clock.
Nomads Rest is intoxicating to the senses as you're immersed in brightly coloured themed rooms, diverse music, art displayed by local artists as well as books and a creative menu prepared by Linda herself. Our breakfasts were well thought out and staged so well that you had to stop for a moment to enjoy the presentation before diving into them. Linda's efforts were more than we could have anticipated, and every breakfast was exciting and colourful.
To describe the atmosphere at Nomads Rest, close your eyes and imagine things as we use words like serene, tranquil, romantic and mysterious. It was a relaxing retreat, and while there, time seemed to stand still for us.
The service that we received during our stay was welcoming and attentive, and Linda was eager to please and accommodate us. She was open to feedback and suggestions, and she seemed to focus not only on our stay but to make us want to return. It worked, as only days after leaving Nomads Rest we've caught ourselves pondering our next trip through the area and perhaps another stay at Linda's B&B.
The price for our stay was very affordable, and we were surprised at how reasonable it was considering what was offered to us and the memories we were left with.
To conclude our review, we enjoyed our visit to Nomads Rest so much that we wouldn't hesitate recommending it to our closest friends and family. It's a B&B that we've fallen in love with, and a place that we would consider staying at for a week at a time... we loved it that much.
