On our arrival Maxine greeted us warmly with a lovely cup of tea and welsh cakes whilst we sat relaxing in the lounge. The atmosphere as soon as we arrived was so welcoming and warm. Our double room at the back called the Rose Room was an absolute delight, all decorated in a very subtle victorian fashion, Little things like, boxes of tissues, hand cream, cotton wool, plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate was ready for our use, even chocolates on our pillow every night. We had a huge bathroom, with fab shower and bath, again soap, shower and hand cream all ready for our use,(big beautiful bottles too) Although we had no TV due to poor reception, we could use our lap top and we did have a radio for our use. The TV was in the cosy lounge.
Breakfast time, there was a variety of times to come down, The first morning we had a huge Welsh breakfast which set us up for the day, We were always asked if we wanted more, even offered sandwich bags when we had a continental breakfast the following morning so we could take the left overs and make sandwiches. Maxine was always on hand to offer advice on where to go, prices and how far we would travel. She had even written a handout on local eateries and their prices. Prices were expensive, so we ate out in Brecon late afternoon, and just had a snack in our room later. I would seriously advice anyone to visit the Big Pit, its free and such an eye opener.
There is a dry room for any wet gear, which is very handy in this part of the country.
We certainly would stay again, this time for a longer period as there is so much to see and do, and the hospitality was second to none.
