South Wales is such a beautiful place to explore and to do it on a canal boat just
puts the icing on the cake.
Raglan Castle, Crickhowell, Abergavenny, Brecon and the river Usk are just a few of the great places to discover. We got to see all sorts of wildlife including Rabbits, Squirrels, Buzzards, Ducks, Swans and even Kingfisher along the way.
The boat we hired at beacon Park Boats was the Grouse, A fantastic luxury of space and lovely, dare I say it, 5 star finishing throughout the boat with my favourite being the kitching, with Microwave, Toaster, double Fridge, big Five Ring Gas Stove incl. Gas Grill and Oven, not to forget the extra large Extractor fan with lights. The pictures of the Grouse on the website are good but in real life everything looks even better.
The Boat itself though it is 60ft long it handels realy well and after a very short time we had mastered it and were in full controll,
I chose this boat for its size and space inside as there was four of us
( two couples), and nobody was disappointed.
We had a realy great time and we are already planing our next trip
Thank you very much Beacon Park Boats.
The boat (Wren) was wonderful, clean and beautifully equipped. The scenery was spectacular. The pubs en route served fantastic food. Wonderful time had by all and fantastic service from Beacon Park boats. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
We rented buzzard for one week on 30th September 2017. What a beautiful boat to spend a week on, very comfortable and the attention to detail was second to none. We have been on 3 canal holidays now and can honestly say this was the best boat we have experienced for comfort and luxury. The canal can be testing at times as very shallow in parts, scenery and setting make up for this though.
We had an excellent time on our holiday which included a friend with mobility issues; staff were extremely helpful, promising (and not forgetting) extra means of access and more convenient and accessible mooring both on outward and return. The boat was very well equipped and the odd gremlin we experienced was to do with the canal trust and not the boat. However, when called upon we had willing help from staff. As an introduction to canal boating the paperwork and dvd was comprehensive tho a little daunting, but we quickly mastered locks and tunnel! Slept well and relaxed so much we kept loosing track of days, and seeing kingfishers was the icing on the cake!
Beautiful boat (CONDOR), 2 couples and we had an en-suite each so made is nice and provate. Don't expect much from the Wifi, but then with the mountains what can you expect. It was a lovely week away and having arrived on Saturday we felt by Tuesday that we'd been away a week. It's so relaxng being on a boat.only 6 locks if you choose to go that route and we did, didn't take long though and there are some volunteers alaong the way to help. Fantastic attention to detail in the cleanliness and presentation of the boats. Brecon Boats really do have it all, Tea/coffee and flapjacks on arrival. Would definately use them again.
We spent monday to friday on Kite with good friends and a lovely relaxing week enjoying the beautiful autumn colour and wildlife. We sampled lovely meals at canal side pubs each evening and as canal boat novices enjoyed learning how to operate the locks. We were so impressed with the way the holiday was organised, sending lots of information prior to the holiday with suggestions for activities and routes which was very helpful.
The boat was beautifully presented with lots of clever storage, fresh flowers and complimentary toiletries. Alot of thought had gone into the facilities provided. We would certainly recommend Beacon Park boats to our friends and would love to book another holiday.
My husband left a pair of shoes behind and they posted them to us free of charge. Excellent service!
We've been on lots of canal boat holidays and this was probably the best. Excellent boat - not the cheapest but another boater told us they're the best on the canal and we couldn't disagree. A beautiful canal, we went lock free for the week so used the quieter bits of the canal. So quiet in fact, we were kept awake by a barn owl one night. Plenty of other stuff to do like explore Abergavenny and Crickhowell, walking in the hills etc. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at the base. We might go back just for the homemade flapjack. An absolutely fabulous holiday.
