I have just finished sorting out my photos from this excellent day on Skomer Island and have to give full credit to Andy Davies for making it so - I have found out so much more about my camera's capabilities and achieved shots that I never would have under my own steam. Much appreciated the inclusion of my camera in the workshop, as it is a bridge, not an SLR (Sony Cybershot HX300) and although this gave Andy more to explain/explore/help me with he was very patient and encouraging.
Andy is a great educator and led the day very well, despite our diverse equipment and experience. Skomer Island is a magical place, the sky and the ground is alive with wildlife the whole time, and it is a truly multisensory experience – smells, sounds, visuals (and you bring your own lunch). I wouldn’t go to see a masterpiece or unique archaeologic site without a good guide, and the same is true of Skomer. I am not a serious photographer, but the extra knowledge about the island, and the help I got with achieving some fantastic photos, enabled me to get much more out of the visit and take home great memories.
I think possibly Andy might have one of the best jobs in the world, for a few months of the year anyway - Skomer is a beautiful place and he made our introduction to it very special. Thank you!
