“Great Cottage Location for Beach”

I stayed at Ty Gwyn last year with my young family (its taken me a while to get around to the review!) The cottage was clean, comfortable, well kitted out with things you might need. It is a perfect location for the beach at Marloes and the boat to Skomer. Kevin was very accommodating during the booking process and great with communication. I would definitely consider coming back for another stay sometime,

“Great location, comfortable, well equipped.”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a lovely stay in Ty Gwyn 1. The bedroom was nice and comfortable, and the kids were happy with the sofas in the lounge. Kitchen was well equipped, bath spacious, and washing machine and dryer very helpful. However, we never stayed in for long, the area is just gorgeous and there was plenty to do. On the first day we left the cottage and within a few hundred meters we were on the coastal path with breathtaking views. A walk around the peninsula finished in the best beach in Pembrokeshire, Marloes Sands, just a mile from the cottage. Fantastic.

“Five adults, five young children, one dog, all very happy”
Reviewed April 29, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We took the house as a large group of five adults and five children under 8. We had a super time. The accommodation is spacious with plenty of options for sleeping arrangements. Well stocked kitchen and space to eat together and lounge about. Lovely garden, which is safe and flat to play in. The fire pit was hit with all of us, and we spent many evenings sitting by it, in near silence looking at the stars.

Marloes sands is a walk away across fields and down a track, but also a five min drive away. It is a special beach, with wonderful reviews. Watching the tide go out is magical as it reveals rock formations and rocks pools a plenty. We went to Skomer on a day trip and saw hundreds of puffins and seals. Pembroke castle is a good outing, with plenty to do for all ages.

We didn't eat out much, we smugly did our online shop to be delivered on the day of our arrival, which meant we were self sufficient.

I would recommend Kevin the owner as a very helpful guide to the area, and keen to know we were having a good visit. One downside, which is due to the provider is the WIFI can be intermittent. But there was enough coverage for it not to affect us. And apparently this is due to be fixed soon anyway.

At the mercy of the service provider?? yes at the time i was getting 1.5- 2.5 speeds and occasional drop out. Hopefully all fixed now with speeds of 6-7 mbs fast for down here.

Happy to hear everything else good with the cottage.

hope to see you in the future.

“Great holiday home at the edge if Britain”
Reviewed April 14, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Good base for hiking in the Marloes and Dale areas, a bit of a seine to other segments of the Pembrokeshire Coast (St David's, etc.). We rented the two (connected) properties for 7 people, but it could have housed 9-10 depending on sleeping preferences. The house has a fantastically equipped kitchen, everything else (beds, bathrooms, heating system, TV/DVD) is of excellent quality. Kevin was friendly and helpful.

“Lovely spacious and well equipped cottage with easy access for Skomer”
Reviewed June 20, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Made a very last-minute booking for Ty Gwyn 2 so we could visit Skomer to see the puffins. Easily found the cottage with the help of the AA route map (Satnav gave up before we reached the village!), although Kevin was easily available on his mobile if directions, etc, were needed.
Lovely, spacious and very well equipped cottage with just about every possible kitchen gadget you could want, including a good selection of spices/herbs, etc to dip into if needed. The American style fridge/freezer with chilled water and ice cube dispenser was a bonus. The range cooker shows some signs of wear (only to be expected in s/c accommodation) but worked perfectly so not a problem. Plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge and slept very well in a very comfortable bed. Although we didn't need to use any, there were plenty of books/games/Wii, etc to keep everyone happy during their stay.
Lovely enclosed garden area with plenty of seating/tables and a BBQ - a good area to listen to and watch the local bird life and also to get a moble phone signal!
Although on the main route to the departure point for Skomer, traffic was not a problem, but if you're planning to visit Skomer be aware - there are sailings at 10am, 11am and 12 noon and when we arrived at the departure point at 9:20am all 'landing' tickets had been sold so it was up and out at 7:30am the following day to ensure we got tickets! Well worth it! :-)
Not a great deal to do in the village - a pub, tea room and post office/convenience store which closed quite early! - but a pleasant area to walk around and there's also the Puffin Shuttle bus to nearby Little and Broad Havens or further afield. Beaches/coves easily accessed from the cottage if you don't mind a bit of a trek down the cliffs but worth it for the wonderful views.
On the down side - if there is one - is the lack of privacy when the other half of the property is let separately. Would be a fantastic cottage for a large group as there is an inter-connecting door giving very adequate accommodation for 11 people.

due to the last minute booking my directions and daily information sheet for the cottage did not get through but normally everyone gets one so this was a one off instance. I have since added some screening to help with the privacy issue although the garden is still shared if both rented separately. happy to hear you had a lovely stay.
