“Incredible Find!”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

On arrival we found ourselves in a comfortable, converted farmhouse, with every modern convenience. A very warm reception from Steve (chief cook and bottle washer),followed by an equally warm reception from Sally. Following a tour of the ground floor, gardens and "animal sanctuary",we were shown to the Sunflower bedroom, which overlooked the garden and hillside beyond, where.wild life abounded. Nothing was too much trouble, with lots of treats, such as an unlimited supply of hot drink sachets, biscuits plus " George" (the butler) presented an never ending supply of sweets at every arrival and departure. Breakfasts were superb, with an excellent choice and always very well cooked and presented, always served by smiling, friendly people. Poppy Cottage is set in a wonderful part of The Dales, as seen during the televised Tour de France. One not to be missed, and we will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Can only comment on Sunflower room, which was well appointed, beautifully clean and quiet. Chatting...

This was our first visit to Poppy Cottage but it certainly will not be our last.
Sally and Steve are wonderful hosts making us feel very welcome on arrival and throughout our three night stay.
We had the Poppy room which is an absolute delight; Breakfast was excellent with exceptional choice and very well cooked.
The whole place was just lovely, spotless and all you could ask for. We would not hesitate to recommend this Guest house.

Our stay at Poppy Cottage was faultless. The sunflower room had a lovely outlook over the back garden to the hill behind. It was nicely furnished with an old fire range that had been hidden behind a wall until the extensive sympathetic restoration. The bed was a decent size, very comfy and all was blissfully quiet. Breakfast was nicely served by Steve & Sally. Poppy Cottage was an excellent base and we commuted into Skipton on the hourly Pennine bus, but sadly the company has just closed down so that won't be so easy in future. The Swan Inn a few hundred yards away has a good menu and provides large portions with interesting ales. Very nice indeed.

The delightful welcome from Steve and Sally made us feel more like house guests rather than paying customers.
Tea provided in the delightful rear garden seating area ... Peaceful.
Great decor throughout, breakfasting room especially.
The Primrose room was well appointed for a Cottage style B&B and has a corner bath.
Steve and Sally put on a five star breakfast with the widest selection of choices I've ever seen. I've seen lots of chain, independent and boutique hotels and B&Bs traveling the UK and this is the only one I want to return to.
And we will go back again.

One word of advice, book early.

Stayed at the here for a few days over the early May Bank holiday and we stayed in the Poppy Room with wallpaper of large red flowers, there 's some doubt whether they are poppies or not, our host Steve admitted.

We had a very nice stay, the room was well appointed, the bed was huge and comfortable and the breakfasts marvellous.

Our hosts made us very welcome and nothing was too much, one day we wanted an early breakfast as we had a train to catch from Skipton, so we had an early breakfast.

There's a nice lounge you can use, this is where Steve served us tea and biscuits on arrival.

I would strong recommend this establishment and I certainly look forward to returning sometime soon!

Our first visit to Poppy Cottage and we really hope it won't be our last!

All previous reviewers are absolutely spot on! We don't think we can add anything to what has been said. We are just so pleased to have found this jewel. We would recommend it to everyone but want to make sure that there's a room for us when we return.

This review is long overdue. Our family of 4 stayed in two rooms in July 2013 for three nights, during a three week visit to the UK from Canada. The quality of the renovation is first rate, the decorating is tasteful and the rooms are well supplies with toiletries, tea, coffee etc. Steve and Sally were thoughtful hosts and the breakfasts were great. The terrace is peaceful, and there are plenty of books in the lounge. This place is a great base for exploring western Yorkshire, or as a stop on the way to Scotland. A nice bonus - there is a village pub a two minute walk away with a full food menu. I would love to stay at Poppy Cottage again some day.
