“Another wonderful stay at Poppy Cottage”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

We stayed for two nights in the beautiful and comfortable Sunflower Room. Steve and Sally were as welcoming as always and Steve's breakfasts are simply the best and set you up for a hard days sightseeing! We were welcomed with mulled wine and mince pies in the cosy lounge complete with woodburner to keep you toasty warm. Carleton is a lovely village and a great location for exploring the Dales.

We stayed over the bonfire weekend and not only did we find a top quality guest house but also very accommodating hosts in Steve and Sally ,the lounge and breakfast room were like the rest of the guest house spotless, and the attension to detail was superb ,
We have stayed in a lot of cottages and guest houses and this is up there with the best ,the breakfast was very nice and felt guilty at leaving some I blame the local inn who's food was also of a high quality which was recommended by our hosts so a visit in summer is on the cards.

Stayed 2 nights in the Primrose room but wish it could've been longer! Sally and Steve are fantastic and generous hosts and they keep up a very high standard in every possible way. We couldn't have felt better catered for. The breakfast was quite simply amazing - we had different options each day and can vouch for all of them! We only saw the Primrose room but it is truly lovely - the bed is very comfortable and the bath is out of this world. You also get a parking space, a door key so you can come and go as you please, Freeview TV, DVDs, board games, hot water bottles, hot drink making facilities, use of the fridge in the dining room - you name it, Sally and Steve have thought of it! If you are visiting this part of the world we can highly recommend Poppy Cottage. This is what all B&Bs should be like.

Room Tip: As stated above - only saw the Primrose room but would highly recommend it - especially for the bath...

We stayed for two nights in the Sunflower Room and what a treat it was. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, with a pleasant view of the chickens, ducks and the countryside beyond. Sally and Steve could not do enough for us during the stay and I must say that Steve's breakfast was out of this world setting us up for the full days we had in the Dales. With Poppy Cottage being just a couple of miles from the market town of Skipton, it really does give a feel for the countryside. A very relaxing stay for us, and we can't wait to return!!!!

Room Tip: We chose the Sunflower Room as we had read such good reviews about it, and we weren't disappoint...

I booked some friends in to Poppy Cottage for 2 nights when they were visiting us last March. We were in the middle of some D.I.Y. so it wasn't possible for them to stay with us.
I went along to Poppy Cottage with them when they booked in which gave me the opportunity to see this wonderful cottage. I can honestly say it is the most stunning B&B I have ever seen and I felt jealous of our friends staying in such an idyllic room - the Sunflower room. Everything was perfect and spotlessly clean. I didn't meet Sally but Steve was charming and welcoming. Our friends were overwhelmed with the hospitality they received. Everything was perfect to make their stay memorable.

Room Tip: There are no tips, all rooms are perfect.

Stayed one night at this beautiful spotless guest house on our way to York. We stayed in the Sunflower room, very sweet room with beams and old fireplace but with all the mod cons you would expect from a guest house with such a good rating. Which Steve and Sally very well deserve. Very comfortable bed, so we both had a good nights sleep. Lovely cosy guest lounge with wood burning stove with doors leading out to a very pretty patio area for guest to use. Very traditional Cottage dinning room where a delicious breakfast is served with eggs from there own chickens and bacon and sausage sourced by themselves. Good breakfast menu with a good choice also a vegetarian option. We both look forward to staying in Steve and Sally's beautiful Cottage again, sometime next year, but this time for longer to appreciate the lovely Yorkshire Dales.

Room Tip: Sunflower room and Primrose room over look the back garden and open fields so you can watch the chic...

A lovely guest house in a quiet village just outside Skipton. The 3 ensuite rooms have their own private entrance, lounge, & lovely south facing sheltered patio. Hosts Sally & Steve made us really welcome giving the impression that nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was good with eggs from the chickens beyond the patio. Wished our visit was longer.

Room Tip: Poppy room on road side but no noise noted. The room was large with sofa. The orther rooms are on t...
