Excellent tearoom next to the tunnel entrance, from where you board the boats for a visit into the tunnel. A guide is provided whose knowledge of the past workings of the tunnel, make it a perfect visit.

“Brilliant for the whole family”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Out in Yorkshires countryside the drive to Marsden was scenic and a delight. Standedge tunnel was amazing, the boat ride into the tunnel thrilled the younger members of our family (age range of family group 4yrs to 70years) the guide was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the tunnel, and passed on this knowledge in an interesting and cheerful manner. The cafe at Standedge was quite good serving sandwiches, crisps, tea coffee etc. reasonably priced. Nearby is a children's play area allowing the younger ones a chance to "let off steam" a craft centre occupied the older members. A 10 minute walk besides the canal brought us to Marsden station and into the small but interesting town of Marsden. A very successful day out for a very mixed age group.

“Good Coffee, forget service.”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

We had been walking in the area and just fancied a coffee. A the coffee was good but what let the place down was the woman serving. She was, I think, an automaton. I asked for coffee, she turned to a young man and barked the request for coffee and then barked out the price. No please, thank you or any other comment. On the other hand, the young man making the coffee was very pleasant and directed me to where the sugar and cutlery was.

I will not be rushing back.

Hi, I am really sorry that the service that you received at Standedge was not to your satisfaction. Good customer service is something that we pride ourselves in, and we take it very seriously at the attraction. It is always disappointing when someone feels that they did not receive good service and this is something that I will look into further to ensure it does not happen again. Thank you for taking the time to review us and I hope that if you do visit us in the future you will enjoy your experience more.

Reviewed August 31, 2012 via mobile

Easy to find, easy to park(free) there is a 15 minute walk to the boat, we printed off a discount voucher do cost of boat trip for 2 adults and 4 children was around 15 pounds . The boat trip was about the right length of time and and the guide was good and informative . Good play area for children not so great if the weather is no good . The trip was spoilt by the cafe not bring able to serve us any lunch as they had run out of food no sandwiches or baked potatoes nothing at 2.00 not very impressed .

Thank you for taking the time to review us, I am sorry that your experience was not as good as it could have been due to the cafe running out of food. This is a very rare occurance and can only be put down to an unusually busy day, something that is hard to plan for but we try hard to make sure that we have enough produce on site to serve all our visitors. I hope that you will visit us again and are able to enjoy the food from our cafe in the future.
