“Stunning, an absolute must stay!”
Reviewed October 25, 2018 for a stay in October 2018

What a wonderful place. Very nicely done 2 bed cottage. The location is stunning and the whole booking/ arriving process was brilliant. Good value and a wonderful base for exploring the amazing Forest of Dean- everything was within 30mins. The views from the cottage were amazing, seeing the birds and wild deer was a highlight. Don’t hesitate to book!

“Ideal cottage, in a great location.”
Reviewed September 30, 2018 for a stay in September 2018

We booked Nuthatch Cottage to use as a base for visiting family in the area & for exploring. The cottage has everything you need, was very comfortable & with outstanding views! If you're looking for peace & quiet, then this is the place to stay.
Because of the location, the only (minor) downside is that it is reached by a single track road. If you meet a vehicle coming in the opposite direction, you may have to reverse a long way back to reach a passing place.
Aside from that we had a great 3 night stay! The owners Vicki & Tim had put a lot of thought into the cottage, which goes a long way to making the experience so enjoyable.

Thankyou so much for taking the time to leave a wonderful review for Nuthatch Cottage. Read our reviews and I think it tells you everything you would want to know about our cottage both good and not so good.
As for the track that leads to Shapridge Common and Nuthatch Cottage, we’ve always felt that it separates us from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. We are lucky that it’s a very quiet little road that very few cars use. It has helped hone my reversing skills on the odd occasion that I have had to use them though ;)

The cottage is in a fantastic location, quiet and rural, with gorgeous long distance views across fields and the forest.
The cottage is appointed to a high standard, is very warm and friendly and had ample space for our little family (2 adults, 1 two year old). Our little boy loved having the two resident cats visit him daily, enjoyed seeing and hearing the chickens, patting the fine horses and feeding the donkey in a nearby field.
The location is great, as there are walks on the doorstep, but it's easily commutable by car to nearby attractions such as;

Perrygrove steam railway (excellent for 2-5 year olds)

Puzzlewood forest

Beechenhurst lodge, activity and picnic site (Well worth a visit for kids / families all ages)

Dean Heritage Centre

We had a fantastic time here and loved the local area.

“Hidden in an area of Natural Beauty. ”
Reviewed June 29, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

Just come to the end of an amazing week here with amazing weather. Easy to find with the postcode and supplied directions, the first thing here that takes your breath away is the view, no photograph can do it justice! The cottage while more compact than we imagined is perfect and very modern, while still keeping the character, the garden is also amazing. There are paths to be walked (and ridden) straight out of the door. Unlike a lot of places, it also feels like you have your privacy too. Nuthatch cottage is maybe a little further than some places from the main forest but not inconveniently so, in fact if you go north its an advantage! The wildlife is amazing, birds, farm animals, rabbits, even a fox! This is a cottage which will only get better as it matures, hope to visit again one day! Thank you to Vicki and Tim for allowing us to use their wonderful cottage

“Cosy Weekend”
Reviewed March 26, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Just spent a lovely, cosy weekend at Nuthatch Cottage. Breathtaking views and so very peaceful. Our Chihuahuas Mario and Alvin enjoyed exploring the garden which was fully enclosed and safe for them. Interior of Cottage 4* but homely and comfortable, we loved the log burner.
We shall definitely be returning in the future.
