This is a lovely interesting water garden. Even though quite small is very interesting and well worth a visit.

Most unusual! Different fruit varieties, lovely water garden and a brilliant place for a picnic. Definitely worth a visit if you like something a little different.

Lovely quiet place with history, easy walks in a typical Gloucestershire village. Good to include in a trip to the Forest of Dean

We were driving from the Forest of Dean to Gloucester when we spotted this NT garden. Like most of the gardens under the Trust's care, it is a lovely place in which to spend an hour or so. As always there are courteous and charming volunteers to welcome you and a good and reasonably priced selection of plants for sale. We were fortunate in that the spectacular tulip tree was in bloom at the time of our visit. We had seen African Tulip Trees before in the tropics, but this was much more subtle. Do keep an eye open for the friendly (and hungry) carp and the cheery guard cat.

I'm not sure when I started enjoying National Trust properties but it creeps up on you like crows feet and a saggy middle. This little gem was a delight, we stopped off on route from Coleford to Gloucester on a Sunday and walked the gardens in about an hour. There are picnic facilities and a toilet but very little else to tempt you, however, when we inquired about the nearest tea room the NT volunteer directed us to the church next door where we had a lovely tea and cake fest for £3.50 (unlimited tea!) each and chatted to the very friendly wardens and friends.
