The hotel itself is separated from the the George Inn. To me they have spent lots of money on converting it into a hotel then run short of money for the furnishings. The walls are very thin and you can hear everybody's televisions. I have a major issue with these remarks as the staff and owners really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and almost part of their family. But in reality the beds need decent mattresses and the tvs need replacing and all the bathrooms need some attention. The only thing I can suggest is charge more and invest. Sorry..

We booked the family room for a one night stop over to break up a long journey. Comprising of 2 adults and 3 kids aged 8-11yrs it was hard to find somewhere to accommodate us, but this was just the ticket. We got a warm welcome, guided tour, and a bath that could take all of us at once, with loads of hot water. The beds were comfy, the linen crisp, the room clean. Cadburys hot chocolate to welcome us, Nescafe coffee, proper tea and biscuits. Nice complimentary smellies in the bathroom. Really quite amazing for the price. Breakfast was again quite acceptable with attentive quick service. We left well rested, and very happy, we will be returning again.......

Decent food and extremely helpful owners.
Probably not the place to go if you want a quiet romantic weekend as thin walls and on a busy main road! Double glazing would help but guess not allowed to install as probably a listed building.

Couldn't agree more with mbabb1977...only stayed 1 night..heard the neighbours in the shower..toilet flushing and snoring all night! People up and down the stairs that creak..front door banging at all hours. Don't have room 2..the room doubles as a disabled access room which meant it was a bit bigger but the "hot water" was anything but hot!!
As for the food in The George Inn..it was very nice but certaintly not worth waiting an hour for!

Staying at Millingbrook Lodge was a very pleasant experience. The efficiency and friendliness of the staff are a far cry from my last experience in the area.
I had a large, clean and comfortable room which was conducive to a great night's sleep. Congratulations to all involved!
