Aviation themed public house with tea room. Warm, clean, friendly. Good real ale as well as hot snacks. Make your own mind up by paying a visit. They let well behaved children in as well as dogs in the public bar. Clean toilets are a bonus.

A smile wouldn't have gone amiss as our drinks were dispensed. Lots of empty little round tables and little stools. Our knees wouldn't go under the table comfortably and it was hard to sit for any length of time. It was empty and the laminate floor made it echo. A big bugbear for me was seeing unlit log fires (it just looks so unwelcoming). It didn’t do it for us. Drove past the other week at around 8:30 to find it in darkness and obviously all shut up on a Saturday night. Confusing hours for a pub.

I have visited the area over the years and can say that the pub has been rejuvenated, the bars have been transformed from a worn out old shack to something resembling a cosy victorian pub. The beer is real ale and well maintained, a joy to drink and a pleasant change from the pubs that just sell the usual lager. In addition to the pub serving alcohol there is an area for cream teas and warm snacks, of which I enjoyed a lovely cream tea with my mother and girlfirend. The hours are unusual, but I believe it's because the pub has only re-opened from a long renovation and the hours will adjust accordingly as more people find out it has re-opened. Nice place, warm and friendly owners.

This is such a weird place. Once a great little village pub with a YHA, this has now been turned into, well, I don't know what. The pub opens for very short periods of time during the day and last orders are at 7.30pm every night. Is that normal for a pub? Certainly not a real ale pub anymore as it was a few years ago. All the regulars have gone up the road to Winterborne Bassett for a warm welcome and a decent pint of beer. You'll have to go elsewhere if you need a place to sleep - they have turned the YHA area into a museum.
