“Star Ski Chalet”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

i have just returned from staying at The Star Ski Chalet in Morzine. Our group consisted of 21 people aged from mid 20's to late 40's. Unfortunately the chalet did not live up to the claims on their website of 'Attention to detail is unparalled'. The two young chalet staff were left to cope with everything, which when looking after 21 people the standards inevitably slipped. The food was adequate but the chalet was not clean, with dust balls and hair under the beds and in the corridors and bathrooms, when one of our guests asked if they had a vacuum cleaner the reply was, they were both broken! The heating in the ground floor bedrooms worked sporadically thus being very cold at times. The sofas in the lounge sat a maximum of 12 people. There were no piste maps and no information given about the area, there was just a general lack of enthusiasm.... The positives are, the mini bus service was very efficient and if your group can fill the chalet the price becomes more attractive but this is not a 'luxurious' chalet!

Room Tip: Ground floor is the quietest, as long as the heating is working!

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Chalet Starski.

We also stayed for one evening at Hotel starlight and had the pleasure of meeting Elderon who was very friendly and helpful. The hotel had lots of character and although the room had old fashioned decor, it was very clean and the staff looked after us. The evening meal was fab!

Tom and Joe were great chalet hosts and the food was superb, with a fantastic vegetarian option prepared each evening. It was also hard to turn down the delicious cheese and port offered to you after the 3 course dinner each night !

The chalet was beautiful and it was so cosy in the evenings, curled up next to the log fire - this made it hard for us to go out at all!

We had a double bedroom which was spacious and clean with an ensuite.

The only downsides were....

Unfortunately the tv in the bedroom didn't work, but we didn't really have a chance to watch it anyway!

The bedrooms didn't lock and although this wasn't a huge problem, we would have been happier if they did.

The chalet was a little further away from the town centre than we had hoped but they do give you lifts each morning and afternoon or alternatively there is a free bus which ran every 30 minutes - so nothing to complain about.

I used Mint Snowboarding for my beginner lessons and Dave was a great instructor and really patient, highly recommended as they are the only company which specialise in snowboarding lessons.

Overall a great holiday and we would most definately recommend both the chalet and hotel to our friends.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday guys :0)

Thank you Chris and Hannah for looking after us so well.

First snowboarding holiday and star ski chalets arranged everything from airport transfers to board hire. Everything ran smoothly.

The food was outstanding, the chalet (avoca) was clean and modern and the lifts to and from the slopes were helpful.

Will definately stay for our next holiday, great value for money and we were made very welcome.

16 of us stayed here from the 19th December 10 to the 26th December 10, following a delay at stansted we arrived at geneva and had an hour delay to our transfer due to the knock on efect from the uk weather, the transfer time is1 hour 15mins, when we arrived at the Chalet we was greeted by Joe and Liz and champange and canpaes, very welcome.

The chalet was warm and clean and the rooms were a reasonalbe size, the food was fantastic Joe did the cooking and is very talanted, breafast consisted of a continental breckfast with a hot option as well, Joe would then run us to the ski lifts which is ten mins away.

We would then be picked up at 4pm and was greeted at the chalet with and freshly baked cake and tea and coffee.

Dinner would be split into two sittings firstly the children and then the adluts which was nice.Joe also did a fantastic job as the childrens wanted all different things to eat.The food the adults had was of first class quality and we really enjoyed it.

There were three sitting areas, main lounge area, tv lounge and upstairs sitting area. theres a pool room and hot tube and saurna, most welcome onthe return from the slopes.

Ski Hire, this was brought to the chalet and was there when we arrived.

As we stayed over christmas they had arranged for father christmas to come give the kids a present and a bucksfizz for the adults nice touch, thank you

Morzine was great, the skiing superb.

Now for our recommnedations
TV there is only one tv that has a arial cable and it has sky box with not many channels and its in the main seating area which is not so good when theres 16 of you and it would have been good to had an arial of the two other tvs. one tv has a wi but there was no games which is not so good, we did get some later in the week.

The manager what a waste of space, he visit the chalet but Joe and Liz didnt need him, on the staff night off we asked him to book a resteranut and requested one the had chips burgers and pitzzas on the menu for the children,no problem you would have thourght,, we were taken to a very posh place, that didnt even have chips on the menu... not very good at all, but the owner was very understanding and kindly arranged for pitzzas to be brought in from a local takeaway... .

On departure, our flight was in the afternoon and we was asked to vacate a 10am and it was if we was just dumped.. at first there was no transport to take us to the village, we had no where to go it was freezing and we had no snow clothing on, after several hours we called at the starski hotel where the owners are and we was made very welocme but no one including the "manager" had thourght of us and its not like a sun holiday where you could go to the beach for the day.... Starski you need to sort this out !!

Overall we had a fantastic stay and it was all down to the effots of Joe and Liz well done!

we would recomment this chalet.

We stayed in the Chalet Star Ski and were very happy with the level of comfort and service provided. The chef was amazing and produced delicious and varied meals. The atmosphere was very homely and every effort was made to ensure guests were happy and content.
We pre-booked ski hire with the chalet and everything was ready as we came in on the first night, the people fitting the boots were very professional and organised. On our last night we left the skis in the locker room and they were picked up with no issues.
We booked private lessons with Jerome from ecoledeski360 and were very happy with the teachers and flexibility offered and would highly recommend them.
We are looking forward to returning to Morzine and definitely to the Chalet Star Ski for a relaxing and well organised holiday.

We stayed at Chalet Star Ski at Christmas 2007 and Chalet Avoca at Easter 2009. Both chalets were of an excellent standard and very spacious with all mod cons. The food at the chalets was also excellent - I especially enjoyed the Sunday night curry.

We decided not to hire a car on both occasions as we arranged airport transfers through Starski. As the chalets were a little distance from the ski lifts we were dopped off and picked up at the slopes every day - It was great not to have to bother with driving the whole holiday!

We have already booked to go again in 2010 with a large group of friends and family. Once you've stayed in a Starski chalet you don't want to stay anywhere else!

The chalet was very comfortable especially after a long day on the slopes. Elderon and Clarissa made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Every meal was delicious. Would recommend Starski 100%.
