Simply Morzine - Chalet des Montagnes
Ranked #4 of 49 Morzine B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 23, 2012

I have been on a few holidays with Simply Morzine and each year they get better and better. The chalet is the best I've stayed in anywhere in the Alps. The staff are excellent and the attention to detail to every aspect of the holiday is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble and they really make you feel at home.

The food was incredible and any dietary requirements were dealt with, with ease. The guiding offered (3 days) was a real plus to the holiday as you don't often don't get this included for free with many holiday companies. I definitely recommend the 7 resort challenge offered by the guide.

The hot tub is a great way to relax after a hard days skiing. The chalet is also on the slopes and is easy to ski back to.

Our group of 7 were very impressed by the standard offered by the Simply Morzine staff at the Chalet de Montages. The food was of excellent quality (and quantity!!) and always immaculately presented and the chef was more than happy to cater for any special dietary requirements. I would advise making use of the guided days, a good way to get to know the ski area. And the hot tub was a real bonus after a hard day's skiing. A huge thank you Simply Morzine!

The chalet as a whole is set in breathtaking scenery and really well equipped for ski season. i went for 5 days staying in the catered chalet which was a great experience and cant wait to go back. the chalet itself was really clean and tidy and the staff so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing, different meals every night all cooked to perfection, as well as the all you can eat breakfast in the morning. it was also lovely coming back to afternoon tea with a different cake prepared every day and a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. overall, we had a fantastic stay and would defintely stay their again and highly recommend to anyone!
P.S. we also loved the HOT TUB!!

Christmas week was spent at Chalet des Montagnes and we were looked after incredibly well. The level of service was excellent and every member of the Simply Morzine team was, without exception, friendly, attentive and always ready to offer advice and help. The food was of an excellent standard and Christmas lunch delicious! The chalet was spacious, warm and comfortable. Although not exactly a ski in ski out chalet the shuttle service provided by Simply Morzine to and from the lifts was very efficient. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a Simply Morzine ski holiday.

We stayed in the self catering apartment last March for a week's skiing holiday with our two kids, aged 5 and 8, having self catered in Avoriaz the previous year.
While the slopes around Avoriaz are probably better suited for the kids learning to ski, we are returning to the apartment at Chalet des Montagnes for the following reasons:
Transport.
Picked up and taken back to the airport by chalet staff, no hanging around, all at our convenience.
Lifts to and from the ski store at Ski Felix / the slopes, we just had to call or text in the morning and someone was there in 5 minutes, there was usually someone waiting at the end of the afternoon. To be fair, it's only a short downhill walk in the morning which we could all have done but was more welcome in the evening when our legs were tired!
Lifts to and from the supermarket when we needed some stuff, again a few minutes after a call or text....did I mention that this " taxi" service was at no extra cost!
Fresh delivers from the boulangerie waiting for us every morning. Lovely!
Advice
Attentive staff who gave great advice of places to ski, eat, drink, shop, but not only that, they were genuinely interested in ensuring that we had a good time. Guided skiing was another option that we didn't take up this time.
Overall, this holiday was a similar cost as our one to Avoriaz the previous year, but for me, the staff and level service they offered, puts CdM miles ahead, especially with small kids, that's why we're going back in February 2012.

We've just come back from our first stay at the Chalet des Montagnes - two adults and three hyperactive boys (aged 9, 11 & 13). The whole family agreed that it was one of the best holidays we've had. All the Simply Morzine staff, without exception, were welcoming, friendly and attentive (and this near the end of the season); children weren't just tolerated but actively included and the care of the staff gave a very friendly home-from-home atmosphere to the chalet. There's a large range of activities on offer and we really got the impression that the best local guides and places had been carefully chosen; we walked, canyoned, parachuted, rafted and mountain biked! Children naturally made friends with the other children (despite the different ages) and there were a lot of times when my wife and I found ourselves able to relax - which made the holiday great for us!
All the chalet rooms are clean and comfortable - OK the bedrooms aren't huge but the beds are better than average and the showers were always hot at every time of the day. There's plenty of space in the chalet to find a corner to yourself but half the fun is joining in with everyone else - there's an outside hot tub, ping pong table and lounge with wifi,pc and BBC tv.
The food was excellent for both adults and children - every evening meal was freshly prepared with generous quantities and there was plenty of wine for the adults.
We were very lucky with both the weather and our fellow chalet families but I assume that anyone who booked this holiday would be prepared to be sociable.
All in all, highly recommended - it's not the place for a quiet, intimate, romantic week but it's a great place for active families!

Room Tip: We had top floor rooms - one with a balcony and a great view of the mountains.

Stayed at the chalet in Aug 2011 and had a wonderful time in every way. The food exceeded our expectations by miles - great breakfast, freshly baked cake at 5pm, nibbles followed by a phenomenal three course meal. Everyone who worked there was incredibly welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient. We are pretty self-sufficient travelers usually but we really enjoyed the help we got from the reps who arranged all of the activities we wanted and even seamlessly managed around the weather to rebook things as needed. The companies they worked with for the activities were top-notch and made us very confident in their professionalism - important when you are doing things like rafting, mountain bikiing or paragliding! The chalet itself was very comfortable, had everything we needed and our kids loved it (they are 9 and 11). We went without knowing the other families in the chalet at the start of the week, but became firm friends. All I can say in summary is If you are wondering whether to stay here, do - it is certainly one of the best holidays we have ever had.
