“First class hotel with service to match”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

The Hotel Dahu is a hotel that easily lives up to the four stars that adorn the sign!

We have just returned after taking a group of CEO's from the UK's pub, bar and restaurant sector and if this, very tough(!), audience can be unanimous in their praise for all elements of the Hotel then you know it must be good.

And it is...

The location of Hotel Dahu is a five to six minute walk to the Super Morzine lift and so slightly in the quieter part of town but the Hotel has minibuses to drop you / collect you at Pleney, Super Morzine or Prodain Express.

The facilities are excellent, a great bar, really comfortable lounge with open fire, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool and pool table.

The food is first class - in both taste and presentation. The wine list is long and varied - with wine to suit all budgets and tastes.

The bedrooms are great and after skiing all day - then eating and drinking to the early hours - sleep came very easily!

Yet what makes the Dahu THE Hotel to go to in Morzine is the staff and management. They genuinely understand the difference between hospitality and service. Nothing is too much trouble - if it can be done it will be!

Run by Benoit and Anne with Sylves, Claudia and Liliana plus many others supporting them - the warmth of the welcome is wonderful to witness and be part of.

I look forward to returning to Morzine and I am not even going to bother looking for anywhere else to stay - there is no point as I will spend the time comparing it to the Dahu and I just can't see any Hotel being a touch to this one!

We have just returned from a great ski trip to Morzine. One of the main reasons for our trip being such a success was the warm welcome and high levels of customer service we received from Benoit and Anne (and the rest of the team) who do a brilliant job of running a lovely hotel. All staff genuinely care for the well being and enjoyment of their guests.

The hotel offers a regular shuttle bus service which takes/picks up guests to and from the key lifts in Morzine enabling you to access Les Gets and Avoriaz/Portes du Soleil with ease.

The food in the hotel was absolutely first class and the breakfast choice was an extensive buffet with hot and cold options and something for everyone. The bar/lounge area is great for relaxing with lot's of comfortable seating, sofas, open fires, etc. Downstairs in the Spa there is a swimming pool, jacuzzi and the Spa itself offers lot's of treatments.

The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and clean, we stayed in a duplex (split level) room 307 which was really nice and had a lounge area with bunk beds, sofa's, TV, desk and a separate toilet downstairs, whilst upstairs was the bath/shower room, twin beds and another lounge area and TV. Great views of the village and floodlit slopes too! Free wifi is available throughout the hotel.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, every aspect of the hotel has been well thought out and the service you receive is exceptional! If you are looking for a great hotel in Morzine, look no further!! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone, suitable for families, corporate trips, couples or groups of friends.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel have a great view, we stayed in room 307.

We first stayed at the Dahu in 1995, i still remember trying to order a glass of dry white wine, the very young girl, did not understand !!, yesterday 05/01/14 we left the Dahu after a 2 night weekend and will defintely not return. They still employ a very young stressed girl team, ( of course in crisis France it's cheap ) but sadly the only difference over the years is the ridiculous prices they charge, we are a family of four, on Friday night we tried the restaurent, it's small, far too bright, and the four girl team are pure chaos, after 15 minutes I had to call a girl over, well, another group who arrived after us already had food on the table, we ordered fish and chips, only two types of the fish we ordered were still available ( even in high season they keep very low stocks ) in the end for 4 small plates of fish and chips, 2 small glasses of wine and 2 juices for our boys the bill was over 120 Euro's !!! the next day we took lunch in Morzine, wonderful interested service, 5 large plates of food ( our boys were ski hungry ) many glasses of wine, coke around 3 each for the boys, a large desert, the bill came to 98 euro's, plus we were offered a drink on the house; Learn from this Dahu, your old fashioned mountain mentality of put up the prices, reduce the portions and give nothing away is sad, the modern world likes a good deal, not take us for all you can.
On check out the bill is an excuse of ' we can only do it this way in France, taxes, bla bla bla ' as another visitor commented, the LADY director just shrugged and walked away, she truly has the charm of an Arctic storm, she should never be allowed to get away with such a poor customer attitude. Finally it's certainly not cosy to have your family, young kids screaming in and around the bar whilst clients are trying to enjoy a moment together, the Dahu owners seem to think it's an extention of their living room so the clients just have to put up with it. If you insist on charging the maximum maybe let your clients have a hotel feeling, not a kindergarden.

Very nice hotel which recently upgraded to 4 stars without changing anything to their standards but their prices! Some of the defaults of this hotel do not make it worth its pricing. This includes an old fashioned spa with a sauna you would not want to experience. Also the morning panic to get a transfer car to the station in time and the struggle to comes back are not 4 star attributes. This is a shame as the hotel is pleasant, the rooms comfortable and the food of high quality.

I spent a wonderful time in this hotel. The view on the city is nice especially after ski. Have a hot chocolate seating in the bar and enjoy the calm of this place. I really liked the inside swimming pool, because swim surrounded by the snow is a great experience. There is a small negative point, is quite far from the ski slope you have to take a bus or it takes a while to reach it by feet.
By the way Morzine is a lovely and very charming town.

I stayed here with my partner for five nights in August 2013. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would certainly return.

The best thing about this hotel is the amazing views from the bar/breakfast room/restaurant and many of the front-facing rooms.

There is also a very high level of service - the staff were generally very helpful.

They have a lovely swimming pool, which was a real sun trap when we were there, and there's a lovely outdoor bar, and an outdoor seating area where we had lunch one day.

The breakfast was very good with lots of choice, and the coffee was excellent. I thought initially that 18 euros pp per day was expensive, but this is in line with the price of meals in Morzine in general - and reflects the excellent choice available.

A major beneft of this place is the free wi fi. It is very fast and very easy to use - why can't every hotel do this?

Our room had a balcony with en-suite separate bathroom and toilet. The toilet was small, but fine. I have never been in a shower with such an amazing view, as the window over the bath looked out over the mountains.

The bathroom was looking a little dated, but was well maintained and scrupulously clean. There was plenty of cupboard space in the room and a good safe that was big enough for ipad, cameras etc.

I should add that the hotel is well located and it was only a short walk into town via the footbridge over the valley.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We've been lucky with hotels on our visits to the Alps in the summer months and the trend certainly continued when we stayed at Le Dahu in Morzine. It's everything a family-run hotel should be - full of character, with great and friendly service and good food.

The hotel has truly amazing views of the valley and our room was at the end of the building so we had two of those views to enjoy. And although the hotel could be seen as being on the wrong side of the valley (you have to cross the pedestrian bridge to get to the main bars and restaurants), that walk is really only five or 10 minutes. It may not be suitable for people who struggle with walking though.

Breakfast was a buffet affair with some excellent locally sourced produce and mainly continental in style. We ate lunch there once and the risotto I had was delicious. We tried to eat in the restaurant of an evening but it was fully booked - disappointing as the food elsewhere in the resort we found to be nothing more than average. Like the restaurant, the hotel's indoor bar has more of those stunning views of the mountains.

We spent a day by the hotel's outdoor swimming pool (there's an indoor one too), and made use of the small bar nearby. The pool has great views of the valley and comfortable sunbeds. The other days we spent on visits to the glorious lake at Montriond and walking in the hills.

There are a couple of things I'd change with the hotel, for example it's a bit odd having reception on the first floor (there is a lift if you have your luggage with you). Our bathroom was a bit dated and rather small so could do with a refurb to provide more space for the shower and bath.

Otherwise, our room was comfortable and clean, with access to a balcony. The bed was fine and we generally slept well.

Would I go back? Certainly. This is a great hotel, and I really don't get the criticisms levelled at it by some!
