“Good way to start the season”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

This place is great. Hotel L'Igloo is clean, comfortable, convenient, brilliantly situated for the town centre, the lifts and above all great value.

When I am off skiing /boarding I need a clean comfortable room and a decent clean bathroom. This place had both and everything looked pretty new. The hot shower was great after a day on the slopes and the view from room 18 (massive corner balcony) was great. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was fresh and more than enough.

I can’t understand those very few moaning about the self serve breakfast or the size of the sauna; all I can say is, if you want five star luxury then you have pay for it.

Thank you for a great stay, I’ll be back

Room Tip: Great views on room facing either way but room 18 on the Pleney side had a great view from the balco...

I've stayed at L'Igloo a couple of times now, always out of season as it is open. I've tended to arrive out of hours and have communicated with the hotel about this ahead of arrival.

The reception and booking process have been excellent and the staff have always tried their best to look after me and have never let me down.

My room has been reasonably spacious for a ski hotel and along with the bathroom has been upgraded recently to a good modern standard.

My only grumbles would be that the towels are too small and that the pillows are insufficient. That aside, I would book again as these don't really impact negatively on my stay.

Breakfast has been a simple but very adequate affair and check out handled easily and quickly. The wifi works in the room and throughout the hotel very quickly and as an international traveller, this is important to me.

Well done.

An earlier reviewer suggested it ought to be a 5 star, that's a bit strong but it is very nice. Well located/across road from lift, clean and tidy.

They don't have a bar and the breakfast is quite basic/serve yourself.

Having said this, I'd definitely stay again and would recommend it.

Just returned from this hotel and we were very pleased with the hotel. We had room 19 which was a corner room with a fantastic view of the Pleney ski slope and the village and mountains.

It is very clean and has recently been modernised, the rooms are a good size with an excellent bathroom with tiled walk in Shower with an electric shower with plenty of very hot water and a nice strong flow. The breakfast is nice, plenty to eat and as much as you want, buffet style.

We also used the very under used Sauna, takes a little while to warm up but a tip is to put it on for half an hour before you want to use it, but it was very relaxing to the muscles when once you use it. The only thing they hadn't got was an English channel on the TV, we took and Ipad and watched films via the internet which is free and in all rooms with excellent connection speed.

It is ideally situated on the corner of the road where it is a straight walk to either the Pleney side or the Avoriaz lift, in fact we used the Avoriaz lift more as it is easier to get to and no stairs to climb to get on the Gondola.

A two minute walk into the centre to many bars and restaurants all good food, and the Haka bar has sport TV and a happy hour 4 til 7 local beer is 4.50 euro Grolsch is 5.50 per pint.

Thank you Josette for an excellent stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, we had room 19

Very nice place to stay. Location is the best, it will take you about 2 min to get the lifts (Pleney of Super Morzine), aslo just 5 min to get to the center and lots of shops, restaurants. Try to book room with windows to the yard side. Very clean rooms, very warm rooms, there is place to storage your skis, sauna.

We chose this hotel based on location and price, what a little gem. Almost tempted not to write a review as we would not want too many people knowing about it, but definitely deserves the praise and based upon earlier reviews, we suspect that a lot of effort has gone into addressing previous comments.

The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are better than many a more up market accommodation (from a well travelled business perspective).

The breakfast is good with a typical continental selection.

TV only in French, but then you're in France (what choice do you get in a UK hotel?).

Location is perfect for either the Plenney (Morzine/Les Gets) or Super Morzine (Avoriaz/Portes du Soliel) lifts, as they are closer than the bus (2 mins walk in ski boots)!!!

We knew that the hotel did not offer evening meal which suited us as we wanted to try some of the local venues. We found ourselves frequenting Le Grillon with a huge variety of speciality meals where everyone is wondering "what are they eating?", only to find out on our last day that the Igloo has a "half board" option for 7 night bookings with (you guessed it) Le Grillon (if only we knew in advance).

We would definitely stay here again, as it is not a 3* pretending to be anything more but definitely top of its class, in what could be a very expensive location.

This hotel deserves five stars and the only reason I cant give it is that there is no evening meal option, and no pool. The owner is lovely and can't do enough for you, the rooms are large and well appointed, and the location is bang outside the lifts, there is a purpose built ski room with room lockers, and heated boot rack. Will defiantly be staying here again.

Room Tip: There are a number of rooms that have new bathrooms, ie ours (room10) large balconies. Rooms to rear...
