Stayed here with family over Christmas 2013 and was delighted with this charming hotel. Situated between the two main ski lifts, it is within easy walking distance of the town and lifts. The newly refurbished rooms are amazing. Very well designed and far in excess of what you would expect for a two star hotel. The food is also very good, although service can be a little relaxed. Definitely recommend staying here. We will be back!

We stayed at the Chalet Hotel Bel'Alpe for a week's skiing that we booked through Inghams. We had a room on the top floor with a balcony and view towards the Pointe de Nyon. The hotel staff were friendly, service was excellent, rooms were very clean, food was good and plentiful. The hotel is well located between the two main gondolas: Pleney and Super Morzine and also the bus stop for buses to Avoriaz and Nyon. There is no lift, which some people may find inconvenient, but it did not bother us.

We visited Morzine over New Year 2013/2014. We booked Hotel Bel 'Alpe as part of a package deal through Inghams.
On arrival we were met by a friendly hostess in the main reception area which consists of a lounge and bar area, and promptly handed the key to our room which was situated on the 2nd Floor. (There is no lift in the hotel, so carrying bags up stairs could prove problematic to some).
There is a clear board that states breakfast and dinner times in receptions with that evenings menu on display each day.
Our room was basic but spacious (especially for a ski resort) and clean with everything you needed, even enough hanging space! We were allocated a family room so had bunk beds in the hall way in addition to our twin beds, I would recommend this for a young family as there are also sliding divider doors for privacy. The room was always warm and cleaned daily. Our balcony also had a side view onto the Pleney slopes.
The location of the hotel was fantastic and only a couple of minutes walk to the centre and ski lifts.
Dinners were plentiful with meat served every night, the only comments I would make is that the bar prices are a little over priced and the Wifi only worked intermittently in the lounge area.
I would certainly stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to couples or young families.

Returned from a ski trip with friends on Saturday from this hotel... What a pleasant suprise from this 2* hotel. Great location to and from the gondola lifts and town centre, walking distance about 5 min with ski boots on.We were assigned to one of the new rooms no 18... this was like a wood chalet type room with comfortable beds tv ( not that it was ever turned on so i dont know what chanels you get) very modern in decor plenty of storage space. The bathroom had a large walk in shower, sink and toilet BUT ... no door which i found to be a little weird..... apparantly its trendy for europeans lol.The food was ok but only one choice for main meal.. unless you are vegetarian in which you get omlette every night, i did ask for fish every night as i am not a big meat eater and they did deliver that request.... quite expensive at the bar with a beer being 6 euros a pint, but it is cheap in town as they seem to have happy hour at every bar each night.... on the whole i would recommend this hotel if you just want cleanliness, comfort and to be close to the ski areas.

Room Tip: room 18 on the 3rd floor is a newly refurbished room if you dont mind no bathroom door

This February (2013) my skiing friend and I spent what was - in the light of previously read indifferent reviews - a thoroughly pleasant and relaxing week at this modest, unpretentious hotel. Yes, the rooms are not especially well decorated (strangely there are only net curtains, for example) and the bathrooms are far from luxurious but adequate; however any of these understandable shortcomings at this budget establishment are more than made up for by the welcoming and efficient staff and the concern by the lovely owner that everyone is happy and having a good time. The dining room, bar and lounge areas are well decorated and the perfect place to relax at the end of a tiring day on the fabulous Morzine pistes and there was never any need to hurry through the evening meal because of the convivial atmosphere. The food is of a high standard with lack of choice the only real criticism (I wouldn't envy a vegetarian staying there). While the overall experience was less "grand" than recent ski holidays I've experience at the same price, I would have no hesitation returning to the Bel Alpe and would recommend it highly to anyone wanting a well situated hotel in Morzine that is close to both the town and the lifts and is clean, wholesome, good value for money and a home from home.

Room Tip: Second or third floor to avoid lobby noise.

Returned last weekend from a week's skiing holiday at Bel'Alpe in Morzine.
We arrived late, about 9pm as our bus had to wait for a flight which was delayed. We were greeted and told that breakfast is at 7.45am and dinner is at 7.30pm and were not offered dinner which should have been included (had we arrived on time) and provisions made for our late arrival so we ate out the first night.
There is no lift at the hotel so we had to carry our bags to the top floor, on which we were staying. The room was quite small and basic but the bed was comfortable, there was a double wardrobe which was sufficient. There was a large radiator which was good for drying gloves etc. There was a tv with remote but all channels were foreign except for BBC World News channel.
There was a balcony with access by French windows but this was shared with the next door room and had that not been occupied by an elderly couple, I might have been a little concerned that our neighbours might have spied on us through our bathroom window (which had a semi-transparent curtain)!
The bathroom was also small and basic with a very small bath with a shower over but no shower curtain so the floor did get a little wet. Also, the shower head had a leak so this also made it difficult to avoid splashes. However, there was always plenty of hot water at any time of day. There was also a hairdryer and some complimentary shower gel and shampoo but no hand soap. There was also another large radiator.
The room was kept clean and maid service came every morning after breakfast. Though bedding & towels were not changed during our stay, we didn’t find this necessary.
Breakfast was buffet style and consisted of pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, cakes & cookies, cheese & ham, juice and hot drinks machine and there was an egg boiler to do your own eggs. There was no hot breakfast option but again we didn’t find that necessary as we were quite full and it set us up for the day.
There was no afternoon tea (cake & hot drinks) which was a shame.
Dinner was good and was 4 courses. There was a choice of starter or soup (although this was a similar veg soup each night), main course was very good each night followed by a selection of cheeses then dessert, which again was varied and very good each night. One night there was a pianist playing in the lounge over dinner which was quite amusing. The two waitresses were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Wine was NOT included with dinner but you could buy a bottle at restaurant standard prices.
In the basement there was a ski store/boot room which had sufficient room for all staying in our week but the room wasn’t heated so we kept our boots in our room so they could air and weren’t cold in the morning.
There was a bar and lounge with plenty of seating. You could also have a tab to put drinks on. Free reliable WI-FI.
There was a sauna which we did not use and a table tennis table which we also did not use as there was only 1 paddle (though we didn’t ask for the other).
The hotel is well placed for the lifts, although not as close as the Inghams brochure said, the Pleney lifts were about 400-500 meters away and in ski boots took me over 5 mins to walk to. The Super Morzine gondola was about 300 meters in the other direction and took about 5 mins walking. The centre of town is only about 300 meters away and a Spar shop is nearby. There were no bars or nightclubs in the vicinity so there was no noise at night.
We were generally very pleased with the hotel. However, on the day of our return, we were leaving the hotel at 1.30pm so partially packed and did some last minute shopping and didn’t get back to the hotel until about noon. The Manageress/Owner confronted us in rather a brusque manner and told us that we should have checked out of our room at 10am to allow for the room to be cleaned. I told her that we were not made aware of this previously and we would get our bags out now. I didn’t appreciate her tone. I would suggest that they put an info page in each room which details meal times, check-out times and any other hotel info.
Also, the place to leave your room key each day is very easily accessed by anyone walking through (at the bottom of the staircase) as there was no reception desk, we were slightly concerned about the security of our valuables. At any other time, there could have been unscrupulous guests staying there. I can confirm that our concerns were unfounded and emphasise that nothing was stolen from our room.
I think I have been very concise, fair and objective with this review. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would stay there again and recommend it to others, however, we may look for other hotels that are closer to the ski lifts, but having said that, for value for money the Bel’Alpe might be difficult to beat (we haven’t looked yet).
I would have given the Bel’Alpe 5 stars but have awarded only 4 due to the lack of a lift, unheated boot room, no shower curtain, easy access to room keys, no afternoon tea and no wine with dinner. But this is a 2 star accommodation and the price was right for us.

Room Tip: Stairs to 3rd floor will leave you out of breath!
