Reviewed January 13, 2013

We stayed at Alikats in the second week of January. What a fantastic way to start the year!! We arrived on Sat evening and were firstly shown around the beautiful chalet. Our room was spacious and immaculate with a balcony looking out over the snowy trees and mountains. The food was exquisite every night; interesting and varied. Kat takes such care over the presentation and ensures everyone's tastes are catered for. The wine was on tap 24 hours a day and the hot tub was the perfect way to ease the aching muscles at the end of the day. The whole atmosphere was so relaxed and every night was like an intimate dinner party with 20 odd guests! After dinner, you can easily fill your time chatting, playing games, watching a film or playing on the Wii.
The lifts to the slopes were prompt and the chalet hosts James, Maz, Vix and Seb were very flexible with times. They also have a superb array of 80's onesies which you can borrow (see pic!) Murray, the chalet dog was the cherry on the cake!
Thank you Al, Kat, James, Maz, Vix and Seb for making our stay so much fun and memorable. We were all very sad to go home and and currently trying to bring back the magic by watching Ski Sunday, but it's not the same!!

Having been looked after by Al & Kat in another chalet a few years ago we knew we could expect something special but our weekend at AliKats could not have been any better (apart from the weather - can you sort that next time please?!) The chalet is simply stunning but it is the service that stands out more than anything. Al & Kat want your holiday to be perfect and Seb & Vix, Maz and James all went out of their way to ensure it was. The weekend was a special 40th birthday celebration (adults only) and Kat put so much thought into the menu and took so much time and effort to make it extra special. As always we had great fun on the slopes with Al (even without the kids) and the entire weekend was brilliantly planned. As others have said it is not ski-in/out but the staff are on call to collect you if you want to finish early, the lift at Ardent is so much better than the queues at Pleney and the apres-ski bars in Ardent were great fun! We really did have the perfect weekend - thank you guys!!!!!
Highly recommend with or without kids!

Being a grumpy old sod from Birmingham I don't usually fill in these reviews as I usually find more to complain about than praise. But AliKats is the exception that proves the rule. Our stay - with five other families - was outstanding. The reason being that Al and Kat were excellent and really responsive, but even more impressive were Vix and Seb, James and Maz who took so much pride in what they were doing, and who served us so well, whilst being the kind of people you could talk to and have a laugh with. The chalet is amazing itself, but it was the warmth of the reception and the fact that when they said they would do something, they did it - amazingly well - that set them apart. Really superb food of course, cooked with care and served with great aplomb. I will stop there before I become too effusive...I can feel tears welling.

We stayed at Alikats for Christmas and were really impressed by the service. It was very friendly and the food was excellent. The chalet is cosy and the facilities are great, we were dropped at the bottom of the lifts everyday. The staff was always ready to help and flexible with our demands. We would definitely recommend it to anyone.

High End service, food and xmas experience, recommend it to anyone with young children or slightly older kids without caveat .
Alikats was recommended by a friend who lives in Morzine and we'd stayed in Morzine in both summer and winter over the years so therefore had experience of different locations and accommodation.
Spot on my kids loved it. So job well done Alikats team

We ski every year and when we can twice a year, usually hotels but increasingly Catered Chalets. After the usual drudgery of a 'Family' Christmas we decided to spend Christmas 2012 away skiing. We've skiid the Porte Du Soliel and stayed in Morzine twice previously once in a Hotel (the Viking at the top of the Pleney) the other in a luxury Chalet.

This year we would do it 'Nice' again as it was Christmas so set about reading all the Tripadvisor reviews on the numerous chalets in Morzine and the surrounding area.

When in Morzine we rarely ski on the Morzine / Les Gets side preferring the vast Avoriaz / Chatel and Swiss side. This for us was the main reason for choosing the Alikats Chalet over other highly rated chalets.
Although not Ski in / Ski out their Website promised to have us on the best slopes within 10 minutes (15 minutes quicker than if staying in Morzine Itself). If you stay in Morzine and you want to ski Avoriaz the choice is the very slow atiquated Prodain lift (with a Bus ride first) or a ride on the 'Train of Shame' across town first then Super Morzine Bubble plus 2 more Chair rides before reaching Avoriaz.

So we arrived weary travellers at approx 5.30pm after the Skiidy Gonzales transfer service could not find the Chalet. Its not surprising as the Chalet is set in a very secluded and quiet area of Montriond. The Chalet Hosts came to meet us and help us with our Bags, Skis and Boards and showed us straight to our rooms to get sorted. The rooms were fantastic! we had the front room on the top floor with a stunning view from the balcony of the Mountains down through the valley, our 2 boys were on the same floor with a spacious room at the back of the chalet with a good size ensuite. In the past we have always struggled in Chalets and hotels with the size of rooms and fitting everything in once un-packed. Not here, the rooms were spacious warm and spotlessly clean.

Despite being full with 22 guests (7 kids, who all got on so well!) the Chalet never felt overcrowded with lots of space. Downstairs is a 'Bar' room, sauna and outdoor hot tub.
As a suggestion the bar room could be better utilised as a 'Kids' TV room as sometimes when the children were watching a film upstairs in the main lounge area the volume could make conversation difficult across a large space.

I am a fussy veggie type (who does eat Chicken!) so in the past have always been made to 'Make do' with whatever the others were having minus the meat or fish. Not here, I would go so far to say thet Kats cooking and food is the best I have ever experienced and is certainly better than any other ski chalet or hotel we have stayed at.
Kat has a real passion for good food and this made our stay extra special. Christmas lunch was a fantastic 5 course traditional affair with all trimmings for the whole chalet. The work that went in was amazing from the whole team, it was just a real shame for them that they couldnt enjoy it with us. On the final evening (being a veggie) Kat served me up what looked like a disappointing slice of Cabbage loaf. I have no idea what it was, but it tasted absolutely fantastic...totally superb. The whole family were totally bowled over by the food.

As a family we would like to say a huge thanks to Kat (and the team) who worked tirelessly in the kitchen whilst everybody else around were enjoying themselves.

Breakfast starts really from whenever you want it to. There is cereal, fresh bread and croissants out from 7.15ish and cooked from 8am. Personally, I felt 7.30am would have been better for us as we are all early risers, but then I dont eat bacon or sausages so it was no big deal!

The chalet team is made up of The owners Al and Kat, plus 4 chalet hosts, Seb, Vix, Maz and James. The whole team were fantastic, nothing was ever too much trouble (apart from the Scarmbled eggs!) and best of all they were always smiling....even first thing in the morning!

The boot / ski room is a refreshingly good size which makes a real change with plenty of heat to dry your boots and clothes out ready for the next day.
Now, down to the location. For us skiers it really was perfect. We would get into the minibus at 8.45. a 5 minute drive to Ardent to the gondola and another 5 minutes we were in Lindarettes bowl and the only poeple on the slopes. It really was fantastic. It puts you at least 10 minutes ahead of other skiers so the first 5 or so lifts and runs are totally empty with fresh groomers or fresh powder if it has snowed overnight.
For non skiers it may be a bit out of town, but the morzine / ardent ski bus stops at the end of the lane or if you prefer to walk all the way into Morzine it takes about 35 minutes. But again the Chalet team were always on hand to pick us up from wherever we finished our day, be that Ardent or Morzine.

All in all, I really cant fault the whole set-up. Al, Kat and the team seem to have everything covered. I just sincerely hope they can continue this enormously high level of service throughout the entire season and beyond.

We are already talking about returning for Christmas 2013, which speaks for itself!
Thanks Guy's it was fantastic.

We first met Kat and Al when they were our chalet hosts 3 years ago in Morzine. They stood out as a very special couple who offered a level of service far superior to anything we had experienced elsewhere before or since. So we were all delighted to hear that they had taken on their own chalet and were lucky enough to spend a long weekend at Ferme a Jules a couple of weeks ago for the opening weekend of the season. Our exceptionally high expectations were far exceeded. Kat and Al's new team had obviously been well trained to deliver the impeccable service that obviously mean so much to Kat and Al. The chalet was immaculately clean, the food (cooked by Kat) and wine was absolutely superb and the team relaxed yet ever-attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Don't be put off by the location of Ferme a Jules which is about an 8 minute drive to the lifts as the Alikats team are on call to collect at times of the day to suit you. I cannot recommend this chalet enough. Emma Coombs
