This is the worst chalet I have ever stayed in. The evening meal was a buffet every evening and the only starter we ever had was soup from a paper cup. There were no mugs/cups in the chalet other than paper ones – a bit like a fast food restaurant. We even had paper plates on one occasion. The website implies you get a ‘served’ 3 course meal but this is not the case as its help yourself and unless you are at the front of the queue things run out and if there is hot food it is not kept warm. The dining room is too small for the number of guests. The afternoon was tea was only ever one small cake which obviously will not feed 35/40 people. We asked for bread but this was never available. The rooms nor the bathrooms were cleaned at all during our stay. The new owners do not seem to want to communicate with their customers and do not reply to your emails. The week before we went I had to ring them to check they were expecting us as I had had no replies to my emails.
It is a good location but there is no ski school there. To get to the nearest one above Morzine you have to be a competent skier to get there or else take the cable car down, then wait for a bus which only runs every 25 minutes and then get a gondola up. This is very time consuming and not what one wants to do with kids in tow. As the chalet is at the top of a lift you have to make sure you are back before the lifts close and no wandering out to the shops and bars in the evening To get to the rest of the Portes du Soleil ski area around Avoriaz also entails a trip into and then across Morzine and up again.
Definitely can’t recommend this place to stay.

Sally,

You review of your stay while holds certain truths that have been addressed on feedback, is not factually correct..

In this I will address you review point by point and also provide our feedback on yourself as a potential future customer for any accommodation provider.

The paper cups at breakfast and buffet service.. You stated that only paper cups were available yet tea cups were readily available during your stay. Mugs were purchased the following week replacing the paper cups that at the time were a temporary fixture due to sourcing issues locally with our supplier at Xmas . The buffet style service was also stopped following the issues that you correctly reference in regards to the food not being eveningly distributed amongst guests. Yet you fail to mention in any positive light the selection of food that was on offer, especially the Xmas Eve buffet with oysters, whole suckling pig, ham and various other goodies, pictures are available on request to jog your memory.

In reference to paper plates we have never used or even had on site paper plates to serve food on so I am unsure where this comes from? The only time that you may be referring to is the quiz night where provided freshly made stone baked pizza's and all guests were asked if they would like a plate instead of the service on napkins, that we had chosen to use as the meal was served during quiz time.

As you have stayed at Inferno in the past, you complaint in regards to the size of the dining room surely you knew what to expect on your returning visit. Due to it being Xmas time we decided to seat our staff amongst guests, filling the dining room, this was more on the social side than anything else.

Your reference to no response to your emails, I would suggest you confirm you system is working correctly as I can forward you the emails we sent to you prior to your stay if you so wish.

In relation to your comment on the cake size you also fail to mention the other options that were available during your stay for afternoon tea, that members in your party complemented our kitchen staff on. I have also checked with all our staff and you never requested bread during your stay.

In regards to room cleaning, you were advised to leave you key behind in the morning if you required your rooms cleaned, as you never left them behind and in respect to your privacy our staff correct as instructed did not clean your rooms.

In reference to Ski School the fact that the actual journey to the centre of Morzine is actually a lot simpler than you state. The cable car leaves the top station at 8:45 and allows you to meet the 9:00 bus stopping opposite the ski school area, with the main schools starting at 9:30 this does not pose a huge issue timing wise. The other option is the retour, taht due to the low snow fall during your stay was closed, this meant you were unable to experience this easy route to Morzine whichs takes you directly to Ski School area.

In regards to access to shops are correct, but as you were also advised we offer a Skidoo service if you required to access town of a evening and charter the cable car on a Wednesday night, during you stay with the Wed being Christmas day this was not possible.

In reference to your whole review, I am disappointed at your totally unbalanced negative comments, especially in light of the fact that your airline had lost your luggage and all our staff and other guest rallied around and loaned your group there own personal gear. During your stay our staff went our of there way to provide you with a warm welcome and cater for all your requests, even when they were physically abused and snubbed by members of your party. On the very first evening your comments regarding being upset that you had not been offered shampoo and conditioner as your luggage had been lost were totally unfounded due to there being complimentary toiletries provided in the rooms.

I would ask that you provide a fair and just review as we have had many positive comments along with some negative feedback that we have taken action on to improve the experience as correctly this is our first season running Inferno.

Kind Regards

Lee

Having heard there would be a new owner this year I would say apprehension set in but I was nicely surprised.

Price and location cannot bettered. The staff were all responsive, helpful and friendly during our stay. For the price and location the level of food provided was excellent and plentiful with there being a good selection for various tastes, there was though a change mid week in the way the food was delivered due to other piggy guests stealing all the chicken :).. Our children loved the location and became eternal friends with Toby and Harry, Inferno's lovely Labrador's.

Having stayed at Ski Chamois / Inferno in the past it is nice to see a change in direction with a new owner having a positive and friendly view on life and adding some fun back to the place..We will be back..

Room Tip: All rooms have excellent and breathtaking view's

We had stayed here before and had an excellent trip, so decided to re-visit the this year. We were informed that the owners had changed, but nevertheless thought this trip would be just as good.....how wrong we were.....the staff whilst being friendly enough were give no direction, and so the week was chaotic from start to finish, some guest were not fed properly as dinner became a free for all with food running out, starters, main courses and desserts all came out at the same time and so went cold, children were not catered for properly and so often went without, or, had to make do. There were dogs running around all week, and the entertainment was not as described on their web page. The new owners stood back and watched all this happening and failed to communicate with their paying customers....I appreciate that it is difficult starting up a new business, however, the lack of communication was telling. A fantastic location which can't be beaten, would recommend for a short break with the "lads" although would think twice about bring the family again.....a view shared by all the guests that stayed!! A real shame as it a gem of a location, but unfortunately does not live up to the previous owners hospitality!!
