“Glorious week - thank you, Skiology”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2012

I was one of a party who stayed in Chalet Lisiere earlier this month. I was really impressed with Skiology and most especially with Jamie, our chalet host. The food was excellent, and I still salivate when I remember that lemon drizzle cake ... Though not the most luxurious chalet I've ever stayed in, Chalet Lisiere was very warm, comfortable and welcoming. Having comfy chairs in the boot room for the daily wrestle with the footwear was a nice touch. And I appreciated having a shower/bath option - good to be able to have a soak after a long day on the slopes, knowing that Jamie was putting together a delicious meal downstairs ...

The chalet is 5 minutes' walk from the telepherique and the hostelries of Les Prodains, and a bus-ride from Morzine. Which is just fine if you aren't wanting to be living right in the heart of the apres-ski. Oh, and the skiing was great!

All-in-all, I think Skiology offer great value for money and I would certainly go back. In fact I wish I was going back tomorrow.

Chalet was clean and well maintained and it was a joy to put on warm ski boots in the morning.

Some of our party were in twin rooms and found the beds narrow and uncomfortable. No complaints about the double en-suite room in Chalet Lisiere.

Jamie the chalet-man was really pleasant and friendly and food was tasty - good home cooking standard - and plentiful. Good cakes every afternoon.

The location was a bit out of the way for Apres Ski. Convenient for the Prodain telepherique or bus to Morzine Pleney but a bit out of the way in general. We got a lift to the telepherque on day 1 only. Recommend the vin chaud at Hotel Kinkerine opposite the lifts.

Skiing in Les Gets was great. Morzine town is a good place to be with loads of facilities. We were also lucky to have fantastic snow conditions (and freezing temperatures). Fabulous service from SkiMobile.

Bonjour !

Very, very happy to read that you liked Jamie, he is an absolute star and we are all so proud of the reviews he is receiving for his culinary skills.

I am sorry that the location of the chalet was not made clear to you, in response I have added a new section detailing the location on the chalet page on our site, if you have any email feedback it would be really appreciated

The beds ! We have had positive feedback for the beds and also now negative feedback too.The pickle would appear to be the fact that they are zip and link beds, zipped together they are a king size bed at 160 cm however zipped apart they are 80 cm each (10 cm slimmer than a standard bed). As a rule at skiology we try not to let areas for improvement come up more than twice so a change is in the process of being implemented.

Thank for the tip vin chaud about the Kinkerne, we are creating a facebook page as a resource to rate and review rest stops in the Portes Du Soliel and the Grand Massif. Keep an eye on our facebook page for details. In the meantime, next time you are back in the Portes Du Soliel try the Vin Chaud at the Coup de Couer and let me know which one is the winner ?

Best wishes and thank you for your feedback

Will most certainly be back with skiology again. Skiology rules for sure. And Rose is the BEST chef and Clodagh went far above the call of duty for us. Amazing week despite the boarding accident. Thank you for all you did for us.

This is the third trip a group of us have had with Skiology - the first time to Morzine. The chalet was lovely - well appointed, cosy etc. Heated coat and boot cupboards! The transfer was excellent, with hot chocolate waiting for us in the minibus. A ski hire hitch (my mistake) was sorted en route with efficiency meaning we lost no time on the slopes. The food was excellent, tea in bed every morning, hot breakfast dealing with different requests with charm. A variety of food allergies amongst the group handled with ease. Back at base Steph and Dom sort the admin with relaxed efficiency and good humour. I would recommend this company to anyone -and do so frequently!

Room Tip: One has an en suite bathroom and small balcony! Another, with its own bathroom, is next to kitchen...

Skiology always make you feel like special guests. The fact I've been on holiday with them four years running testifies to that! The staff are warm, smiley - nothing is too much trouble. They listen to feedback and act on it! Highlights are excellent food, great ski guiding and comfy chalets.

Stayed at both chalets in Les Prodain and loved each time equally. Booking of accommodation was very easy with questions answered timely. On our first arrival we were greeted by friendly smiley hosts and a delicious home baked cake (each day a different delicious flavour presented after skiing). Morning tea/coffee bought to our door, tasty simple breakfast, and then A sumptuous evening three course meal. Truly the hosts and team could not have done more. There is generally someone around to help answer questions. Hence we returned and were not disappointed - equally superb service and friendliness. If it is possible we will be retuning very soon. Highly recommended.

Skiology is a tremendous outfit and I have no hesitation recommending them and I intend to book again.

Pre-trip booking and admin was dealt with by Dom who handled everything positively and promptly. He helped us with an insurance claim (my wife broke her wrist boarding and couldn’t come) and generally made the booking process simple and painless. Transfers were simple and affordable and emails about flight sales a nice touch.

Clodagh was a great host. She welcomed us with open arms, barely blinking when we commandeered most of her fridge for a car load of Belgian beers. She brought tea and coffee to the bedroom door with a wake-up knock each morning and was happy to sort a different breakfast for each of the 8 guests. She was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, something that has continued long after our stay as she’s helped with recipes for my favourite meals! Speaking of which the menu and her cooking were superb. Good hearty meals but with a touch of fine cuisine thrown in. Expect big flavours, decent portions and plenty of wine if you want it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the chalet with her.

For her night off Clodagh recommended a snow-shoeing trip to a tee-pee where our host would cook us an amazing fondue. It was hard work getting there through waist-deep powder and digging out the tent but it was an amazing experience and wonderful food.

Picking up on some other reviews I would agree that the entertainment options are good, cleanliness is impeccable and that the chalets are well appointed & comfortable. We didn’t notice any lack of TV as we were too busy having a great time.

In summary I would say that ALL Skiology staff we met were really friendly, great fun and incredibly passionate about OUR skiing/boarding unlike most reps who treat guests as barriers to THEIR skiing. It truly was hard to fault any aspect of the trip.

Thank you so much for your review.

I am not sure a apt managerial response is to cry with happiness when one reads a review ? I am so glad that you did feel it was your holiday, it is not something that we have specifically asked the team to ensure that guests feel however it is going in the guidelines now :)

Hope to see you again soon and please do keep in touch for any recipe needs or otherwise
