“Superb”

Great service and prices compared to Paris. Beautiful decor touches and location on the harbor. The 3 course du jour was only €15!!! The salad was lovely, the fish was perfect with a beautiful lemon cream sauce and puréed Pomme. Dessert was gorgeous and superb! A must...

“Best fish ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2012

We decided to go to this restaurant based on other reviews on this site....and so glad we did. The decor is lovely - not over the top, not bare, just very nice. Made us feel very comfortable & relaxed. The staff are very nice & helpful. The menu is written on chalkboards and at each table, there are suggestions by the chef on a smaller chalkboard. We each had one of the recommended dishes: my husband had "Cigale de Mer en Cocotte" (lobster in the shell but it has been "chopped" into sections so the meat can be easily removed; this was in a sauce with potato & eggplant chunks) and I had Poisson du Jour, which was cabillaud (cod). It has the same sauce and vegetables as what was in my husband's meal. Both were outstanding. The cod was a large, thick piece with the skin still on it but easily removed. It was perfectly cooked - I think it had been steamed then lightly grilled on the skin-side only, just to crisp it. I love fish, could eat it every day and this without question was the best fish I have had in years. For a wine we had a 2009 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru white wine that was excellent - my husband usually goes for a red wine but he opted for the white to go with his lobster and really enjoyed it. For dessert, which I normally don't do, I had to have the cheese plate. I am a cheese-aholic and I was not disappointed with the selection of Normandy cheeses. There was enough on the plate to share....if you want to! My better half had a rhubarb coulis with ice cream which he said was very tasty. We went to the restaurant about 7 pm and were the first ones there but within 45 minutes, the place was almost full. There was a couple sitting at a nearby table who told us they live in the area and eat at this restaurant very often. A good sign when the locals are eating there all the time! The staff made us feel welcome and were extremely knowledgeable about the evening's menu.

We look forward to going back to Dieppe just eat here again!

“Great meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2012

This restaurant was recommended locally and didn't disappoint. Yes - it's fairly small and noisy and the tables are rather close together but the food is excellent and, as others have said, the portions are large. We had lobster and the fish of the day, washed down with an excellent red (as recommended by the waitress), then shared a dessert and some calvados. We were the only English people there and it wasn't that easy to work out what some of the dishes (on a board) actually were, with our limited French, but that was part of the adventure. It isn't a "gourmet" experience but I would go back readily.

“Excellent cooking with very large portions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

So we've eaten well over the years, and the cooking here was very much in the top echelon. One of the starters was an exquisite raviolis with pate, whilst the others were well sourced local stuff. The mains were beautifully cooked, but huge portions. The steak was in the region of 400g of entrecote, whilst the marmite dieppois had another 300g of various gorgeous fish. Be very hungry, or be prepared to leave food on your plate.
