Had a 2 night stay in Sept 2012. The proprietors are very friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely little swimming pool and terrace which captures the afternoon sunshine. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Its about a 10min walk to the centre of town.

A great little hotel for a short break.

Went on a little jaunt with my Father and Brother to do some Kayaking and Cycling and ended up booking last minute (a month in advance by mistake!). Fabienne was a lovely hostess and her dog is very friendly too! The incorrect booking was all sorted quicky and luckily she had rooms available for us when we arrived. Rooms were clean, breakfast was nice, overall a great experience.

I've read reviews about this hotel on other websites, and many praised the owner. I can tell you that every good thing that I read is true. Fabienne could not have been a more helpful or friendly host. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this quiet hotel. Breakfast was very good and was served in a beautiful dining room. There was a pool which we didn't have time to use. We will return to this hotel, and next time will stay more than one night.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the street. I thought it might be noisy, but it wasn't as there isn't...

This hotel does not have much kerbside appeal, however when you go through to the back there is a very pleasant garden and swimming pool where you can sit. Breakfast is served overlooking the pool. There are a number of steps to the rooms which are clean and comfortable but rather dark and typical French style. About 1km walk from the town.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: Lots of steps to the rooms on the top floor!

Arrived to find the hotel looking & smelling very tired and rundown with workmen, with ladders and wiring lying all over the hallways and stairs. Went up to view the room we had reserved but couldn't get over what we had seen on the way up so decided not to stay.

My husband and I stayed here for one night while doing some sightseeing on the way to visit friends in the region. We paid e56.60/night (inc tax) for an economy double en suite room, plus e7 each for breakfast so e70.60 in total.

Hôtel du Puy d'Alon is a traditional family-run hotel with a friendly landlady. Our room was a reasonable size, clean, comfortable and charming. One point to note is that they don't provide a hair dryer though, so bring your own!

Guests could also relax in the garden and make use of the refreshing (if quite small) swimming pool. Wifi is also available. There's no lift so be prepared to carry your suitcase up one or two flights of stairs.

The breakfast was pretty typical for our time in France. It consisted of a basket of breads, cereal, yoghurt, pots of apple puree and tea/coffee/juice.

The hotel is located outside the centre of Souillac, probably 20-25 minutes' walk to the centre for the restaurants etc. It's located by a roundabout so we were a little concerned it might be noisy, but needn't have worried - very little traffic seemed to go past at night. Free parking is available at the hotel.

I have to admit that as a town, Souillac was larger and less charming than I had been anticipating. So although I would recommend Hôtel du Puy d'Alon as a good value and friendly place to stay in the region, I wouldn't suggest arriving too early in the day - there's not a lot to see in Souillac!
