Michelin guide awarded two stars to this place and it deserves them. The food is sheer pleasure, the wine, champagne are great, the service excellent and warm, the place is beautiful...what else to ask ?
Yes, it is very expensive (339€ for two with champagne as apéritif), but you go there when you want to do something exceptional because you worth it. That's it.

Michelin star experience. Be careful not to stay in the hotel. Recommend the champagne list.

We live in the Champagne region and have made the rounds of the Michelin-starred restaurants in the area; this is far and away the best, and possibly among the best in the country. I can't imagine why it hasn't gotten a third star yet, as it's unquestionably better than the three-star Bristol in Paris. It also happens to offer THE best-value weekday lunch to be had in the city - for 59€, you get canapés, amuse-bouche, first course, main course, cheese trolley, dessert and mignardises (more on this after!), all of it innovative without being shocking, and perfectly prepared and presented. Service is always impeccable without being stuffy, a refreshing change from the pretentious service encountered elsewhere. A visit to L'Assiette Champenoise is worthwhile for the mignardises alone - around the same time as they bring out dessert, they also bring a large selection of sweet little bites: macarons, homemade caramels and chocolates, homemade marshmallow, cannelés, lollipops, biscuits, etc. It's actually a dessert in and of itself, and in all the Michelin-starred restaurants we've eaten in around the country we've never encountered such an impressive spread. The cheese trolley is equally impressive, at least 20 perfectly-aged specimens to choose from. We've been here at least 7 times now, and every time we're impressed - it's the standard to which we hold all other restaurants at which we eat, and have yet to find one that provides such an outstanding level of cuisine and service.

We just finished our meal and had a fantastic evening.

I've been to 3 stars restaurants far behind this one.

Here you'll get classic cuisine served in a modern way. Every single meal was just perfectly balanced and perfectly cooked.

As my wife does not drink wine, I decided to go for wines by the glass, the sommelier was just great and had me discover some very interesting things. I had a fantastic Chardonnay, that was all but typical, but so round, not too buttery and with it's fair amount of acidity... A pure delight. A critic we read was that the wine price tag excessive....not true, if you are OK with less famous wines you'll find good bottles for 50€... For this type of restaurant it's more than acceptable (a tip go for the Coudoulet of Beaucastel - Beaucastel's Chateau neuf du Pape second wine)

My wife and myself are cheese fanatics, we are difiluct to impress as we know quit a fair amount of them and still this place managed to have us discover some delicious little productions that were just delicious.

Finally the service was nice, not too posh and very friendly!

Trust me, if in the region it is THE place to go for. Moreover their renovated rooms (as the global deco) are super.

Our group consisted of five couples and at the end of the night we all agreed that this restaurant experience was disappointing.
Tthe outside grounds and building are very attractive, and the interior decor is very modern. However, the food was just average, not of the callibar we expected for the expensive prices. We found the servers were pretentious and unfriendly.
The wine and dessert selections were the best parts of the meal.
Last year we dined at another Michellin-starred restaurant/hotel, Le Relais Bernard Loisear in Saulieu France, and the food and service there was outstanding. We were hoping for the same high level of excellent food and service from L'assiette Champanoise but it paled by comparison.
