This is a wonderful place - not obvious from the main street but really worth seeking out. The coffee was excellent and the cakes superb. The fruit smoothies were also good. Great to get wi-fi and the staff are really friendly and welcoming and helpful

Although we should have turned left just before Uis, we went into the town instead. We were glad we did as we discovered this little gem of a tea room. Excellent smoothies and cakes which made a great break in a long, long journey (are there any short ones in Namibia?). The setting, in a garden centre, is lovely; plenty of plants and birds to watch. They even made us some takeaway sandwiches for the journey. The prices were very reasonable too.
Highly recommended and Uis looks like a quirky little German township- or did I get that wrong?

On first sight Uis looked like the last place to find a nice coffee. Barely resuscitated post-mining town with slag heaps around it. But a perky sign said "Cactus and Coffee: best coffee in Uis".. and we needed one. An opportunity to check out the town anyway after seeing the Brandberg White Lady. And it was really nice coffee by people who care and an ok open sandwich. As a garden person I really appreciated the cactus garden setting which was nice and cool with lots of rocks. A surprise that was welcome - would recommend it. Great to see people investing in towns like this.

What a little treasure in the hot and dusty dessert. Fantastic Coffee and that Cheesecaake is to die for. Certainly worth a trip back there again.
The situation is perfect in the little cactus nursery and adds a beautiful ambiance.

However, the parking needs to be attended too. The bus we were traveling in could not park at the dedicated area as it would have incurred some major damage. So the driver parked in a huge open area on the side of the road, not obstructing any of non-existent traffic. Which was a problem and he was asked to move the bus, but with no other dedicated parking area. The point that none of us got is that as it is a very quiet little town, there are no businesses or any other houses, there is so much parking space, whats the problem????????? We did discuss this with the tenants and they mentioned that these are orders from the property owner.

This unpleasant discussion made us think twice if we will come again or not, and should we come again, hopefully the parking issue will have been sorted with the owner. You simply cannot expect the elderly tourists to walk on the uneven dust and dirt road to the entrance, this becomes a health risk as well.
