We saw this place advertised in the Manchester Evening News, they had a two night package for £99 per person which included accommodation and food. Lets get away from it all we thought - and so we did! Firstly the welcome was genuine, the staff were friendly and well presented without being overbearing or over efficient - no ties or name tags thank god. The pub is immaculate if a little dated but cleanliness is the most important so we were happy. The food was honest home cooked fare, nothing to fancy on the menu but it was freshly cooked (you can tell - just go to a generic beefeater/premier inn type of place..bleaurgh!!). The steak was perfect- both nights, the cheesecake was the best my wife ever tasted.
But the most important thing...Lisa and Bernard, the hosts. Wonderful, wonderful people - genuine, easygoing, sooo friendly...Personally we think they are lost in this village - they could easily make a fortune in a place less remote just because of their attitude.
We will be back.
